Some Things From Yesterdays Game...
1. Hawk's Sack early in the game was a SAFETY...
2. Were still having some trouble scoring 6 inside the redzone
3. On Ted Ginn's 52 yard pass play that he didnt score on in the second half...if you watch the video (located under Mili's Video Clips...Then Illinois Clips) he stumbles a bit thats why the defense catches up to him. If he doesnt stumble he's gone.
4. Special Teams...doing a GREAT JOB (Esp. Huston)
5. Defense definitely bounced back after giving up too much yardage vs. Minnesota (I'm NOT bashing our defense im just saying they had an off game even though it was against a very good offense vs Minnesota)
6. I wish Tressel left Pittman in there to get his 100 yards in the game and also 1,000 yards in the year
7. The game could have been an even bigger blowout (but Ill take what we got)
8. I was very impressed with Troy Smiths performance yesterday...he threw the ball away when he got pressure on him, had a great game passing, and had a pretty good game running the ball too.

Good point on the throw-aways. Some of Smith's incompletions were his best plays yesterday.

The refs were correct on this, it was a good call to mark forward progress on the one. He got driven back into the end zone.

If it werent a safety then why'd they mark it at the 1 and a half yard line...if anything it should have been inside the 1 yard line in my opinion. This happend right in front of me and i personally thought that if it werent a safety then it should have been inside the 1.

Ok, I just looked at my tape of the game. Brasic was backing up from the 5, and Hawk made contact with him when he had the ball at about the 2-yard line. By the time he's on the 1, he's firmly in A.J.'s grasp, before falling back into the end zone with Carp at his legs. Based on that, the refs could have marked it anywhere between the 1 and the 2, depending on when they determined Brasic was in the process of being taken down.

I agree with mcclellanatosu, BB. Not to say your analysis isn't right, just that at full speed, that was a safety. Just as sacking Stanton in the EZ was a safety as well.
