I seem to respect ND more than other posters, but I would think that OSU would win by more than a touchdown against the Irish. Tressel is a great big-game coach, and we have great senior leadership all over the field on defense, ND hasnt faced anyone as good on defense as OSU is.

I dont know about that as Tenn. has a fine defensive team. Having said that OSU would really make ND work for it's points as Tenn. did. I cant say who would win but it would be a match-up of one of the best offenses in college football vs one of the best defenses. ND'S defense has improved as has your offense. Both special team can score as well so it might be interesting....

Let me say this right now: there is 0, and I mean ZERO chance of OSU playing ND in a BCS Bowl this year. Let me tell you why:
When the smoke clears on the BCS, there will be # 1 & # 2 in the Rose Bowl (obviously).
Then you have the conference commitments to each Bowl: SEC Champ goes to the Sugar, ACC Champ goes to the Orange.
Then you have the Big Ten Champ, Big East Champ, & two At-Larges (one of whom WILL be Notre Dame) for the 3 Bowls to select from.
The Fiesta Bowl will select first & last from those pools of teams.
So who is the most attractive team to the Fiesta, and who is the least attractive??
Obviously, the most attractive would be ND, and the least attractive would be the Big East Champ, most likely WVU. That's your Fiesta Bowl match-up right there.
Once ND gets the invite, there's no WAY OSU is falling back down to the Fiesta for the last pick. Absolutely no way. The Sugar or Orange will gobble OSU up, and there's no way either will select WVU or any of the Big East teams over the Buckeyes.
In my eyes, Notre Dame vs. West Virginia is pretty much set in stone.

NDC: "Sloop- Sounds reasonable but man would that suck....."
Its the only way this thing can shake out. I'll put this out there for you guys & you tell me how you'd fill this out. Here are the available teams (assuming that everything plays out as expected):
At-Large ND, At-Large OSU, Big Ten Champ PSU, and Big East Champ WVU to fill out the remaining four spots. Now, the selection order goes like this:
1. Fiesta
2. Orange
3. Sugar
4. Fiesta
Answers please ...

Fiesta - OSU
Orange - ND
Sugar - PSU
Fiesta - WVU
I agree with you Sloops that OSU v ND is almost an impossibility. I think that Fiesta would take OSU or ND first, and then Orange take whoever Fiesta doesn't.

Agreed. As long as the Big East is affiliated with this system (& have no commitment to any of the Bowls, which they don't), they're always going to be the last pick.
The Fiesta Bowl would pick a 3-loss Oklahoma team over any team in the Big East if they could.
