I think they have glass now, but when I was playing in '83-'84 it was exactly like the Blues Brothers. When you got hit in the corner they used to spit at you or thorw beer and run up and scream right in your face. They used to pack the place when OSU came in. They had a good team with a bunch of French Canadians that could really skate and were large bodies.
They used to do this thing where one side of the stadium would cheer "tastes great" the other would answer "less filling" (that was an '80's thing).
My ex-wife saw me play there for the first time. I got like 5 penaties, got in two fights and broke my stick right across a kids back. I felt like I needed a police escort to get off the ice. Freeken nuts.
For some reason she never wanted my boys to play. Something about it being a violent game.

Also it wouldn't matter if the fall quarter wasn't already over, no one would be dancing on Court Street. I'm telling you no one actually cares about OU football, it's a complete myth.

I never was making an argument. I was just stating that the Bobcats held their own 8 years ago at the shoe for one half. Of course 8 years ago you were probably calling your friend Bobby and telling him that Sally in gym class thought he was neeto....and then he told you to talk to Sally in study hall and tell her that he likes her also.
I made no statement that Ohio would do the same next year. I am pretty sure I said they would get their ass kicked and I will be cheering for the Bucks all the way.
Go Sooners!
Go Pitt!
Go Bucks!

Well then what the hell was purpose of even bringing it up, if you weren't arguing for OU? That sounds shady at best to me...
Any level-headed, intelligent Buckeye fan (let alone any sports fan) would/should know that two games separated by 8 years have absolutely no effect on one another. As someone mentioned earlier, great job in being able to state an irrelevant fact. Obviously those long years since you last saw OU play tOSU, have taken a major toll on you... is senility coming early for ya?

On game day, no one wears Ohio University gear. It is about 30% Laurinaitis, 35% Smith, and 34% TG2. I represent the 1% that wears an A.J. Hawk jersey still. Everyone gets together to watch Buckeye games. Bobcat games are an afterthought.
I don't think I have even seen a true Ohio Bobcat fan. Well, aside from the people who don't actually watch football, that is. The football players take it personally. We say to them "Win a couple games."

You are right about the atmosphere. But when your program was routinely one of the bottom 10 programs in the nation it is hard to have a following. But the more the program wins the more the following will come. It just takes time.
The bold part is the whole cusp of the hatred. The vast majority of Ohio fans are also Ohio State fans (the same can be said for all the other Ohio schools too). But then you have that vocal minority that didn't grow up Ohio State fans that HATE the part of the Ohio fandom that worships Ohio State over their current school / alma mater. I have that debate all the time with my fellow Bobcat fans on message boards. It is pure jealousy even though they never admit it and it is tiring.

Good ol Byrd Arena... LOVED going to hockey games. While it was only club level it was high level club hockey (they won 2 club championships while I was there). Loved getting trashed and then having our whole section rib the goalie constantly (and any other player in earshot). And yes we would still rush the glass if there was action in our area. And of course throw in 3-4 fights a game and it was the place to be on Friday and Saturday nights before you hit the bars.
