Hubs, while I agree that underaged drinking isn't the crime of the century (hell, I was drinking when I was 16 and that was back when 18 year olds could get 3.2 beer), the point is that he's on a premier college football team, and his actions reflect poorly on that team, not just himself. F*cking up once is forgivable, but twice inside a month for the exact same offense is inexcusable. At minimum he needs to be suspended for pre-season practices.

When is this crap going to end?
|
When the legal drinking age is 18, so that it's no longer considered "crap" is my guess.
Some of the people in an outrage are probably the same that complain about not allowing open containers and public urination on gamedays along Lane Ave. or next to the Horseshoe.
What do you guys think college kids do? Drink Pepsi and play Trivial Pursuit all night?
If JT didn't boot Arden for two DUI's, what makes you think he'll do anything serious to somebody with two underage drinking tickets?

I think you're jumping to some conclusions CleveBucks. The "crap" I'm referring to the string of negative publicity that OSU seems to be going through. It seems as though we've had one incident after another for QUITE some time. And no I'm not in an outrage about open container OR public urination, thank you. But I'm am getting a bit tired of folks who can excuse everything that happens as simply "boys will be boys".

I know the Columbus police couldn't have changed as much as South High has since I left in 1999. At every bar, Papa Joe's, Sloopy's, Maxwell's...all of them had the frequent walk-thru by a group of officers with their white shirts and hats. Every underage kid in the place would suddenly spill their drink...and a few would be lead out every night. Campus is notorious for being hard on the underage drinkers. AJ needs to use better sense than the normal student. The normal student is representing him/herself...an athlete on a schollie is an investment and a representative of the University. I agree that underage consumption is something we all probably did...but as long as a player is representing tOSU, they will be under the scrutiny that goes with that honor.

First of all, I highly doubt OSU is getting any publicity out of this outside of Ohio. Do we ever hear when somebody from Miami, or USC, or Oklahoma, is ticketed for underage consumption? Hell no we don't. It's not even a newsworthy event unless you care about OSU football.
Secondly, I haven't seen a single person that excuses everything as "boys will be boys." I have yet to see somebody minimize or defend the actions of LI or IG. I have, however, seen many people defend Trapasso, and I am one of them. I have a hard time criticizing somebody for something I did literally hundreds of times in the past 4-5 years.
True, he was dumb for getting caught (as was I when I got caught a few times). He'll learn how not to get caught after a couple more months of college though.
