Seeing as he was seriously thinking about Purdue, I guess you could say that he "Amos" committed to them...

His comments on his committment make me believe this kid has his head on straight. He knew he wanted to be a buckeye so instead of waiting longer he pulled the trigger. Now he can focus on academics and H.S. football for his senior year. I wish more recruits would pull the trigger early. There have been more pre H.S. FOOTBALL SEASON COMMITS THIS YEAR THAN I HAVE EVER SEEN BEFORE.

Amos bound for OSU
Thursday, August 26, 2004
Middletown High School’s Andre Amos can go into his senior season knowing his playing days will continue.
The Middletown Journal learned late Wednesday, the 6-foot-2, 175 pound wide receiver/cornerback gave his verbal commitment to The Ohio State University.
“It feels good (to get the choice out of the way),” he said. “I can relax now. I didn’t want to go into the season thinking about college. That wouldn’t be fair to my teammates. I wanted to get the decision out of the way, so I can focus on this year.”
Entering this season, MHS is picked by Greater Miami Conference coaches to finish fourth in the league. The Middies were 5-5 overall and 3-4 in the GMC last year.
The Middies open the season Friday with a non-conference match-up with the Cincinnati Withrow Tigers at Barnitz Stadium.
His decision came down to Purdue, Michigan and the Buckeyes.
“Either school I picked, there was no one I could go wrong,” Amos said. “I feel I can fit in at Ohio State. What I bring to the team is they can throw a quick screen, and I can take it to the crib.”
While Amos said the Buckeyes recruited him for both offense and defense, he will start on the offensive side of the ball. However, if the chance to play earlier opens on the other side of the ball, Amos said the OSU coaches would be receptive to the move.
Last year, he hauled in 26 catches for 361 yards and four touchdowns, according toThe Journal’s unofficial statistics. Defensively, he had 19 tackles and one interception.
