Pittsburgh Live
Trinity tight end turning recruiters' heads By Kevin Gorman TRIBUNE-REVIEW Sunday, December 25, 2005 Trinity's Andrew Miller has gone from relative unknown to coveted recruit without letting it go to his head, despite a recruiting battle involving Indiana, Ohio State, Pitt and West Virginia. The 6-foot-7, 265-pounder, a tight end projected by some to play tackle, said his college decision will be based not on his position but rather the people he will be playing for and with the next four or five years. "Tight end is really the only position I have ever known, not that I wouldn't like tackle," Miller said. "I've also said throughout the process that, when it comes down to it, the position will not be the deciding factor." Miller has visited Indiana, West Virginia and Ohio State and came away impressed with all three. He has an official visit to Pitt scheduled for Jan. 6, and hopes to make a decision shortly afterward. "Hopefully, I can keep a level head and continue to look forward without the awes," said Miller, who has a 3.9989 grade-point average and scored 1,030 on the SAT. "I'm looking at the content and not the window dressing." Springdale lineman Devin Cox is contemplating appointments from the West Point and U.S. Naval Academy and an offer from Division I-AA Liberty. The 6-3, 275-pounder, an All-Class A selection by the Trib, is being recruited on both sides of the ball but believes his future might be in snapping it. Kevin Gorman’s Recruiting column appears Sundays in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. He can be reached at 412-320-7812 or by email at kgorman@tribweb.com. |

Two observations, at almost 6'7" I think he could be an ideal tackle after a couple years of adding weight. Secondly, I'm sure it was just a slip but his visit is Jan. 6 not this weekend.

1/4 JT and Coach Daniels will visit Andy tonight. He watched the Fiesta Bowl and was very impressed with the offense. After visiting Pitt this weekend, he will decide soon. |

Tress and company just got back into town yesterday and now the focus is recruiting. I like our chances with Miller. Lets hope JT closes the deal.

JT had his in home with Miller last night. At this point, I really like our chances. Haven't heard much, but most feel we have as good a shot as any. I think it helps us that we are recruiting him as a TE vs. Pitt who is recruiting him as an OT...

Does anyone know if Tressel made his in-home visit last night? I should've camped outside his house to make sure. I plan to go see him play b-ball next week. Would be nice if he announces for the Buckeyes this weekend.
Edit: Question answered one minute earlier. OSUBucks22 must have been reading my mind. Last edited by holybuckeye33; 01-05-2006 at 02:25 PM. |
