BP Awards: The Big Daddy (Best Defensive Lineman)
This one wasn't really close. Louisville's Elvis Dumervil won going away, earning more than half of the first place votes. Congratulations, Elvis, for winning BP's first annual Big Daddy Award (named after Buckeye legend "Big Daddy" Dan Wilkinson) as the nation's best defensive lineman!

Dumervil had the gaudy stats (20 sacks, 11 forced fumbles), but #2-6 (Kiwanuka, Wright, Ngata, Hali, and Williams) were all probably better players, and each is most likely a better NFL prospect, as Elvis is barely 6', 250 lbs, and doesn't have ideal strength to play DE in the NFL.

My top 6 were: Kiwanuka, Hali, Ngata, Wright, Dumervil (for the stats), and Kudla (homer vote), with Tapp being #7 on my list.

Hopefully Dumervil can play LB... for his wallet's sake... to be sure.

It was just hard not to put him #1... the impact numbers were just overwhelming... I had him in the back of my mind to be #1 because I had an idea that the sack total was high.. the forced fumbles sort of put it over the edge for me. Besides, I feel like its a "College Award" not who's going to get drefted high award.

It was just hard not to put him #1... the impact numbers were just overwhelming... Agreed - it's hard to ignore those stats, and plenty of major award winners don't accomplish much in the NFL, as it really is a totally different game.

Might have been the games I watched however I had Kiwanuka first because the couple BC games I did watch he was an animal. Dumervil was second based on stat's (he didn't jump off the screen when I watched him... however his final numbers were huge)...
