Look what they did in the National Championship game last year... it was tremendous. If they paste Texas the way they pasted OU last year, I'll buy it.
Oh, and the best team I'VE seen (21 years old, mind you) was the '94 PSU team.

well i dont see them pasting texas like choklahoma but i see them winning. i figured USC to win ina rout last year over choklahoma anyways. they were a very overrated team. texas's team is much better than the OU team from last year. USC has evolved some new offensive weapons this year and everybody's numbers on offense have improved. i believe leinart's numbers are better than they were last year when he won the heisman but you would have to check and make sure on that one. defensively bing is a monster at safety. they lost some quality LBs but the current ones are not bad and have done a good job. i have no idea how many starters will play in the game vs texas but if USC has a majority of them playing id watch out. last year USC barely beat UCLA. this year UCLA is a much better team and USC just obliterated them.

Yeah, and if the ND defender turns around and knocks the ball down like he should have on that 61-yard pass to Dwayne Jarrett on fourth-and-9, then USC would've lost...the Trojans definitely lucked out.

But dont forget that according to many ND is also one of the best teams ever.. every year they win it seems. If they would of beat usc the rnakings would have been 1ND 2TEXAS 3USC and USC would jump texas later to have the two best college football teams ever rematch the greatest game ever.

true but the USC made the play and capitalized on it. not to mention notre dame was a little bit of a better team than the cincinnati team we played.

So. Texas' biggest break was when Ryab Hamby dropped the wide open pass in the endzone. [censored] happens and as a college football fan you should know that.

i already know that but people in general view it a little differently from a texas/ osu game as opposed to a osu/uc game.

I still don't get what you're trying to prove. The UC reciever dropped the pass therefore they weren't good enough to beat us. We made enough plays to win and that's all that matters.

I think the BIGGEST flaw in ESPNs arguement is that they are already counting this 2005 USC team to win it all. If USC ends up "winning it all" in this retarded race and they lose the chapionship to Texas, does that mean that a non-national champion is bette rthan the 2002 (14-0) Ohio State team?
Bottom line, they should wait untill the Rose Bowl is done with before all of this B.S. Maybe if they were doing this tourny with the CHAMPION 2004 USC team, they could have a legit argument, but since USC hasnt won [censored] yet, its way too early.

Yep. That's what I've been saying all along.
Another question I have with this ESPN series is how in the world the '97 scUM team is rated higher than our team in '02. If my memory serves me correctly, scUM split that national title. We, on the other hand, were undisputed national champs after beating a Miami team that the media claimed was unbeatable.
