This whole Plan B stuff is really dependent on your frame of reference. Take a look at Robiskie. Viewed strictly from the perspective of when he got his OSU offer, it would be hard to argue he wasn't OSU's first choice for WR and therefore is a Plan B guy. OTOH, viewed from the perspective of the quality of the recruit, I can't see how anyone who had an offer from the Canes could truly be considered a second tier (AKA Plan B) guy. Put another way, if OSU suddenly offered Turner, the WR from Tennessee (who I don't think OSU has offered), would that be a Plan B offer? Or would than be a Plan B offer (because of timing) to a Plan A recruit (based on quality).

his rivals videos look pretty solid. his offer list isnt too bad either: osu, stanford, duke, ill, ind, kentucky, wiscy. purdue was hot after him until they got an early commit from greg orton, then they waited for lymon. florida was on him early until zooker got canned, and coincidentally, illinois has been after him hard.

I think what he meant by plan B offers, are recruits that Buckeyes have been in contact with but haven't been offered a schollie. Citing Turner doesn't hold water because (please correct me if I'm wrong) the coaching staff has had little if any contact with Turner. You don't suddenly offer a kid that you have not been in contact with.
I know this is a touchy issue, because it brings the whole accusation of being a chicken little or the sky is falling freak. But let's face it Washington and Robiskie aren't the Bucks first choices. But then again neither was S. Holmes, he was a late offer as well. You never know.

Three years ago, I was just starting to follow recruiting and I was [censored]ed when the Buckeyes took Santonio - ranked as the 17th best receiver in the state of Florida that year. I figured the coaches should just bank the schollie and get somebody who wasn't a "plan B" guy the next year. Thank God I wasn't the one making the decision on Santonio.

Other recent "Plan B" Buckeye recruits are:
Class of 2004
Dennis Kennedy - visited 1/16/2004; never made it into school
Curtis Terry - visited 1/30/2004; played as a true freshman
Class of 2003
Marcel Frost - visited 1/28/2003; most think that he is a potential star
Class of 2002
Santonio Holmes - visitied 1/25/2002; superstar
Troy Smith - visited 1/25/2002; star in the making (if he stays eligible...)
Brandon Mitchell - visited 1/25/2002; valuable contributor
Nate Salley - visited 1/17/2002; star in the making
Other late offerees include Chris Gamble (superstar), Donnie Nickey (star), and Mike Nugent (superstar).
So, it looks like OSU has done fairly well with late offerees, although I will admit that many of them were offered late because of academic issues (Smith, Frost, Terry, Kennedy, Gamble), and not because of talent issues. Obviously, both Robiskie and Washington have strong academic resume`s, so grades are not an issue with them.

The problem is that you read it on Bucknuts.

That's 100% correct, smart-aleck...you don't know what the NCAA will decide.

Remember one other thing about "Plan B" guys this year. According to ex-Coach Conley himself, this year we seem to be more discriminate in giving offers, and are in on fewer recruits than we usually are.
In previous years, recruits like Washington probably would have been offered months ago (i.e. a "Plan A" recruit). Just because this year, with the more targeted recruiting strategy, he didn't get an offer until later doesn't mean that he's any worse than the typical "Plan A" recruit we looked at a couple of years ago.

one "plan B" kid has offers from miami, UF, and Stanford.
the other has offers from wiscy, stanford, ill, ind, kentucky etc...
had zook not been fired form UF, they would have offered as well.
if this is a fallback, then osu is doing pretty well for itself.
