Evidently, Ohio State sucks and ND is great
Texas fan who can't believe all the hype surrounding USC. They're being touted as the greatest thing since the invention of wine, with the game against ND as proof. I see highlights of their victories over ND, UCLA, and Fresno State all day on ESPN, but I have yet to see ONE highlight of our victory over OSU. Call me crazy, but winning at the Horseshoe at night against your defense is a really, really big win. You can say it was luck that the field goal missed, or that Tressel alternated his QB's, but just BEING in a position to win at the end is a huge achievement. Evidently, ESPN doesn't share my views. Good luck against ND--hope we win and you win to end all of this talk.

We're with you man. Its ridiculous how in love ESPN is with both ND and especially USC. "Is USC the greatest team ever???" Its a joke how that 70% of the airtime is about USC...

When you (and I mean ESPN or the media generally, not you) go out of your way to pre-annoint a team as "the greatest of all time" you have to find any nugget that will support your contention. Notre Dame had a very good year, and they played their best against SC and almost won (maybe Should have)... Having a look at SC and ND's schedules, this game was the "hardest" for both of them. And, they both get huge credit for it from the media - SC for beating the storied program with the hot new coach and ND for barely losing to the "greatest team of all time" I wouldn't read much in to it.
Texas' win over OSU was a much bigger win as far as I'm concerned (and attempting to be as objective as I can be). Texas went in to a hostile territory to face a team which it had never faced before (ND and USC match up yearly) OSU fans and players were geeked up about this game for a LONG time, and it all came to a head that night. Texas probably could have lost the OSU game something on the order of 42 - 21... but, hats off to Texas... giving OSU the short field on TO's and long returns, the Texas D stepped up and did what it had to do to keep that game within reach. It was an epic battle, and while I never feel good about an OSU loss, I earned much more respect for Texas than I had going in.
I rambled a bit, I suppose... Bottom line, OSU had no shot against Miami in 02. Texas has no shot against USC this season... But, and heres the important part... DEFENSE wins championships.... Texas' D is better than SC's in my opinion. Regardless, it doesn't much matter what the talking heads say, and what games they focus on as the "key" to why SC may be better than Texas etc... bottom line is, they play these games on fields and not on talk shows. Dont' worry about it.

I think the Fiesta Bowl is going to go a long way to show how the Rose Bowl is going to play out. OSU and ND were Texas and USC's biggest wins of the season. If we go out and beat ND and out physical them I think USC is in for a long day against Texas. If ND can throw the ball all over us Texas will have problems. Personally my V$ is on OSU and Texas.
