Yes, it was. His left knee, and this is at least the second time, if not the third, on that same knee.

I saw it on the teasers on the front page of the local paper today. I grabbed the sports section right away hoping it wasn't Drew Carter. Man, That's just bad luck. The article said he was just running!

It's twice now on the left, that being the one that was just surgically repaired during this past season. He's also torn the right once before. So this is his third ACL tear, second on the left. I just feel sick for the kid. The Panthers have him listed at present as "out for the season", so I hope that means they'll keep him on their roster, in IR status. I'd love to think he gets another shot, but at some point you have to wonder when his knees are beyond repair.
Somewhere out there on Grassy, Ibiscool is rejoicing in all of this.

horrible horrible horrible news. Life is not fair.
The man had such few opportunities to shine...I'll always remember that incredible diving catch he had against wisconsin. I remember watching him run track for solon and win both hurdles, the high jump and the long jump at the WRC Conference Meet. Just an incredible athlete.

crappage.
I thought there was a rule about being carried for a year on the team when this happens. I remember when Karsatos tore his knee up trying out for the Dolphins years ago and it seems like they had to carry him on IR for the year.

Actually, it's a shame there IS so much guaranteed money in baseball. That's ridiculous. You fire a guy and have to pay his entire contract, anyway.
Is your money guaranteed? Mine isn't. I could be let go at any time, and have to look for another job - why should athletes be any different?
Tough break for Drew. His career may be over before it ever began.

All I thought when reading the title line was... not again... kid has been dinged up too much... Three ACL problems... when he has a child his wife cannot give him grief for her pain, that is horrible.
I hope they have to keep him for a year. I doubt he will stick though. His body just isn't holding up...
