For the past two weeks a local family has taken a ride on an emotional roller coaster, but now with the help of a college football coach, they have another reason to smile.

For the past two weeks a local family has taken a ride on an emotional roller coaster, but now with the help of a college football coach, they have another reason to smile.

Ohio State's head football coach, Jim Tressel, has given 11-year-old Nathan Lewis an authentic, signed Ohio State football helmet.

Coach Tressel sent the helmet to Nathan's church with a note saying that he was sorry to hear about everything he and his family have been through.

It all started two weeks ago when an OSU themed helmet that Nathan's late father made was taken.

His dad, Chad Lewis, died just days later after a short battle with bone cancer.

Fortunately, the helmet was returned, and now Nathan has two special helmets.

"To think that a man who is as busy as Coach Tressel is, would take the time for an 11 year old boy that he doesn't know, but yet he showed his support and his comforting way; it means a lot," Tarri Lewis, Nathan's mother, said.

The OSU helmet was given to Nathan during Wednesday night's church service.

I would like to see us be more involved in the "wonderment". I'm for more committee decisions. Open it up a little.

I agree. Coach Tressel should use his Twitter account to allow fans to tweet him the next play call. That should lead to some real "wonderment."

The thing i admire the most is the fact that Coach Tress and his staff AND his players are doing these good deeds behind the scene. It's not their intention to have the things they do be reported by the press. They didn't make a big headline when they first sent that "mystery" box. If it's not for the family and the church, the story probably would be going on unnoticed, AND that would be just fine with Coach Tress.

Love Coach Tress. Love my Ohio State Buckeyes.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Some observations in the wake of the Buckeyes' 30-0 rout.

BEST LEGACY

With Jim Tressel's 221st win on Saturday, the Tressel family became just the second father-sons combination in NCAA history to record 550 victories. Bobby, Tommy and Terry Bowden had 589 victories as of Saturday noon.

Lee Tressel started the family tradition by compiling a 155-52-6 record at Baldwin-Wallace from 1958-80. Dick Tressel went 124-102-2 from 1978-2000 at Hamline, while Jim Tresell is now 221-77-2 from 1986-2000 at Youngstown State and 2001-2009 at Ohio State.

Lee and Jim Tressel are the only father-son combination to win national championships. Lee Tressel did it in 1978, while Jim won four at Youngstown State (1991, 1193, 1994 and 1997) and one at Ohio State in 2002.

You know I stop and wonder for a brief second, but can anyone actually visualize or picture an Ohio State team not being led by Jim Tressel? I honeslty can't, but if someone can please tell me who...

Also, do not tell me Urban Meyer, I'm sick to my stomach thinking that some Buckeye fans actually want Meyer as our coach.... I guess 41-14 didn't mean anything to them...

Afterward, there was no dancing on logos, but there was frolicking in the Ohio State locker room. Even Tressel got in on the act.
"He was pretty excited. He was down there dancing," Pryor said. "He was spinning around and doing all kinds of stuff, and we were dancing with him."

I would love to have seen this, the ultra conservative coach dancing and spinning with his players. Priceless. Congrats on the win Coach!
