Alot of people up in the Youngstown area would always talk about "What IF"
when jim was still coaching the Penguins. We all liked the YSU Penguins very much but we followed Ohio State with alot of passion also. Cooper had a hard time winning the Big ones and we all said "What if JIM Tressel was coaching at OHio State would he do a better Job.

When he was awarded the Job the Buckeye Fans went wild in Youngstown. We knew the outcome would be great. Now it has come to fruition for everybody. But I have to be honest here. Tressel gave us fits and we cursed him up and down and we did not think we were going to win those certain games that were had ind doubt.

But he found a way to win. Always. He had alot of people scratching their heads trying to figure him out. We quit trying after awhile and knew the same thing would happen at Ohio State hoping the "BuckeyeNation" in Columbus would accept his unusual ways of coaching a football team. Do ya think they have by now ??????

Tressel Named To Coach of the Year Watch List

Tressel Named To Coach of the Year Watch List - The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com

HOUSTON ? The Paul ?Bear? Bryant Awards committee of the American Heart Association selected its Bryant Watch List for the 2007 College Football Coach of the Year. The selection committee consists of current and past event chairmen, Bryant family representatives, National Sportscasters & Sportswriters Association representatives and former collegiate players and coaches.

The Bryant Watch List will be narrowed down to five to 10 finalists and announced live by Alabama football legend and former NFL player Kenny Stabler during a press conference in Houston on Dec. 12. The finalists will attend an awards dinner on Jan. 17, 2008, where the winner will be announced live. The winner of the Bryant College Coach of the Year is voted on by members of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association and is the only college coaching award given after all the bowl games have finished.
Bryant Watch List in alphabetical order:
Michael Bellotti ? University of Oregon
Rick Brooks ? University of Kentucky
Lloyd Carr ? University of Michigan
Randy Edsall ? University of Connecticut
Dennis Erickson ? Arizona State University
Jeff Jagodzinski ? Boston College
June Jones ? University of Hawaii
Mark Mangino ? University of Kansas
Les Miles ? Louisiana State University
Chris Petersen ? Boise State University
Gary Pinkel ? University of Missouri
Mark Richt ? University of Georgia
Rich Rodriguez ? University of West Virginia
Nick Saban ? University of Alabama
Bob Stoops ? University of Oklahoma
Jim Tressel ? The Ohio State University

Also during the January event, legendary Nebraska head coach and current Athletic Director, Tom Osborne will receive the Bryant Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes excellence in coaching on and off the field during a career, allowing recipients to take their place in history alongside legends such as Bryant. Recent Lifetime Achievement recipients include Glenn ?Bo? Schembechler, Jack Pardee and Lou Holtz. The Bryant Awards honor excellence in coaching while raising funds to fight heart disease and stroke, the nation?s No. 1 and No. 3 killers. Bryant himself suffered a heart attack prior to his death in 1983.

reporter - "Jim, you have 3 senior fullbacks, does your playbook include a handoff to the fullback?"

JT - "Yeah, we did it once."

reporter "You did?"

JT - "You left early."

reporter - "How'd it go?"

JT - "Minus 1."

reporter - "Any chance of seeing that for the seniors on the final home game?"

JT - "Not if it's minus 1."

Even Tressel Has Hot Button
By John Porentas
Over the years OSU Head Coach Jim Tressel's demeanor has almost never changed. Even in the most frenzied situations the man has been positively unflappable. Some even questioned whether he knows how to perspire. He always looks under control and rarely looks too excited. This season, however, some insiders say there has been a bit of a change in Tressel.

Weak ... mention Bobby Carpenter, but then go into a story that wasn't the one I was expecting.
