Well, I guess it's better to start our overrated at #2 than underrated at #10, with the obvious reason being that an early loss doesn't drop us to the point we can't recover and still make the NC game.

We didn't lose that game because we didn't stop VY.
We lost because we couldn't convert turnovers and other red zone opportunities into TDs.
Look at VY's stats for that game as compared to every other game he played, and I think you will see that we contained him very well, certainly well enough to win the game.

Northern Illinois (MAC Champs...but seriously,we OWN the MAC)
@ Texas (With or without VY,it's a tough game, but I think we can win it)
Cincinnati (Just won't be good enough to ebat us)
Penn State (Too many losses on both sides, and an enemic offense won't help)
@ Iowa (Our offense will keep our defense off the fiel)
Bowling Green (Once again,a MAC team)
@ Michigan State (Team doesn't know which way it's going)
Indiana W (Come on,it's Indiana...it's a gimme)
Minnesota W (Won't be able to set up the pass with the run)
@ Illinois W (We will beat em easy)
@ Northwestern W (They play us tough...but they won't be able to be tough enough)
Michigan W (It's in The Shoe...Tressel owns them,he'll be 5-1 against scUM after this game)
The only game I can see us getting blown out in is the Texas game, especially if VY comes back.If he doesn't come back,I believe it's a very winable game, even with him back we can win it.
The teams we blow out: Northern Illinois,Cinci,Bowling Green,Mich. State,Indiana, and very possibly Michigan.

Yea I'm pretty worried about the defense. The one thing that is comforting is that alot of kids got playing time this year in some blow outs. We did lose all 7 of our back 7, but however Jenkins/Mitchell both started not to mention O'neal saw alot of time in certain situations as well. Now I'm by no way saying we're goin to come out and kick ass, but you have to remember we had a new defensive coordinator in 04' with Mark Snyder and a whole new defensive line.
Which brings me to my next point. The defensive line is absolutly not bare by any means. Pitcock is the best DT in our conference not to mention one of the best in the nation. Patterson has started as well and will most likely be moved inside this creates a pretty solid middle of the defense. You add those two monsters with Richardson (who has started before), Wilson, Gholston, and others and I think our D-line could be one of the best in the conference. Over all a very strong d-line IMO.
having a good D-line remember gives those young linebackers chances to make plays, and having a good d-line will also make up for any kind of miscommunication or blown coverage in the secondary as well ( provided we get a good pass rush).
I think we'll be OK to start the year but by the end of the year we mite see a faster back 7 then we had this year (especially in the secondary). We jus need to weather the storm in the beginning and hope to god our D-line can take some pressure off of everyone else.

I see us as 10-2 by the way with a Rose Bowl victory over USC....
I believe we'll lose to Texas (if VY comes bak), and Iowa. Iowa at Kinnick stadium scares the hell outta me.
