Glenville tackle Marcus Hall (6-5, 305) is one of the top lineman recruits in the country and said he has narrowed his choices to Ohio State, Illinois, Michigan, Florida State, University of Miami and LSU.
"I'll probably make my decision after the season," he said. "I'm definitely looking for a good amount of playing time early. I don't expect nothing to be given to me when I go in, but I want to have an impact on the program."

Well we know that Zook will all but guarantee him a starting spot the day he reports as a freshman. This will be interesting.

There is no reason for anyone to think that Hall couldn't come in and compete for PT. Tressel has always said that the best players will play. If Hall truly wants to make an impact on a program, he's going to have to come in and get it done in practice, in the classroom and on the field. That is the same whereever he goes. I am quite sure that TG Sr. and Tressel are telling him that.

The issue to me is OT.. If he is deadset on playing offensive tackle, particularly if someone tells him he can be a franchise LT.. then depth chart is an issue at OSU.. Although they are true frosh, it's hard to believe that Adams and Shugarts (i know Browning is in the picture) wont be manning LT and RT for quite awile..

If he's open to playing RG he could very well work himself into the picture by his second year..

Hard to look at our depth chart and read Hall's comment and not have some concern.

However, my experience following uncommitted big time recruits has taught me that the least reliable indicator regarding what such a player will ultimately do are the direct quotes as written up by the recruiting services.

Zook has a spot in the 2 deep to offer, and Cordell Scot for a bud. JT, has future national title games to sell. At tOSU, Hall will practice and compete with the best. Really, he only has to start one year at tOSU to be a day one pick in the NFL draft.

It may only be my imagination but, I think that even tOSU linemen who have been picked late in the draft have done a great job of hanging on in the NFL.

Anyone know if Hall is graduating early? If so, I think he's got a shot at making the two deep. Otherwise, I see him either redshirting or getting playing time late in games. He's got some things he will have to work on before he sees the field in the college game, but he's gonna be a fun one to watch. I hope he decides to stay close to home.

With no offense to Miller, that back-up LT spot should be wide open for whoever wants it the most, even though I think Hall is an ideal RT. He would DEFINETLY grab some attention as Adams' replacement.

...several points for considering. Immediate v long term goal. Opportunity and quality over a college career v initially coming in. Injury/cumulative risk to NFL longevity for a 3-4 year v 1-2 year college starter. ...for any person of any age or background who "believes whatever they want to...", that person makes himself an accident waiting to happen. I wasn't thinking in terms of what Ohio State will or won't "lose" in my response; i was thinking of what was suggested as Hall's primary motive for picking his college choice. I do suspect that there are ... "others". However, i am not in the "getting" business. Much more on point, I suspect JT is not in that kind of business either, by choice and intent and values he lives by.

- Now I could see him getting in the rotation early, but if he stays at tackle I just don't see him beating out Browning or Adams...Shugarts either imo. OT is going to have some brutal competition. Now if he was willing to play guard and Brewster ends up at center, then a spot could be there for him. Aside from all of this, OL is a hard position to come in at as a freshman and be effective. You have to be Mike Adams caliber to start at OSU as a freshman, and he probably even won't. With all that said, I hope Hall realizes if he comes in and competes, he could be in the rotation soon enough.

Linemen get moved around. If Hall is as good as advertised, he shouldn't mind the competition between him and the three other incoming OL (bolded in your quote).

agree 100% + OL has gotta to be the hardest position to project at next level, so many highly touted lineman never pan out. I don't think you can look at OL depth based on guys who have never played at the NCAA div 1 level and be concerned about playing time.

Well if you want championships and play in the NFL there is one team that sticks out on that list.

4th straight B10 title for OSU...I don't see this streak stopping anytime soon. IMO next year we at least share it. 1st time in B10 history a team has won the championship outright 3 years in a row.

4th straight BCS bowl...BCS bowls are for the big boys on the big stage.

Possibly 3rd straight NCG...very rare.

Stability in the coaching staff.

Led the B10 5 straight years for academic all-B10 players.

Had the most players drafted since 2000 of any CFB team.

What team on his list is even close besides LSU FROM A FOOTBALL ASPECT...add the academic part and its not even close?????

IMO the choice is easy really...there are many other reasons to add.
