Is Ohio State the first and only team...
...to defeat Michigan and Notre Dame back-to-back?
I just went to Scout's Michigan board and used that in a thread where some Notre Dame yayhoo congratulated Michigan for being the only other non-SEC team besides ND to get commits from the south region rated #59 or higher. He said he didn't include #60 because OSU had him and that he didn't want to include "car burners". I replied that the only burners we have are on the football field and that we were the first and only team to ever beat scUM and ND in consecutive games. I admit I pulled that out of my ass, but in retrospect I'm fairly sure that not many teams have ever even played scUM and ND in consecutive games, let alone beat them both.

No clue, but I love the Carr burners comment!

I'm checking cfbdatawarehouse now...I don't think they play ND and scUM back-to-back. Obviously ND is an OOC game (early), and MSU seems to play Michigan in the middle of the conference season...
EDIT: Found that MSU did play them back-to-back in 1998 (beat ND, lost to scUM). Since I'm going in reverse chronological order and already found back-to-back games, I may hate to eat my words...
EDIT2: MSU lost to both in back-to-back games in 1980, 1981, and 1982...
EDIT3: Damn, played them back-to-back 1975-1979, but never beat both.

Michigan State did it back-to-back, in 1961 and 1962. The played the teams back-to-back a buch of times in the 70's, but never beat them both then.

not sure beating the two teams "back to back" holds much significance in my book... especially when there is a 6 week break in between. Beating MSU, some random team, and then ND the week after during the regular season is more impressive to me.
