I'd like to kick Keels every time he says "absotively". Keels, buddy, it's not funny anymore!
And finally, I miss Woody's TV show, where he would bring out two or three of his players and all they were allowed to say was "Yes, coach" "No, coach" "That's right, coach" or (Champ Henson), "I saw the goal line pass underneath me, coach!".
Musberger doesn't bother me, and I actually think Danielson likes our program.
Peace out! Go Bucks

Gowdy was the worst, bar none! he kept calling Mike Sensibaugh "Sessinbaugh". He was either in a constant state of confusion or drunkenness, hard to tell which.
Problem with Keels is that he has Jim Lampley disease - he likes the sound of his own voice WAY too much. Football is bad enough, but he makes basketball almost unlistenable.
I miss Woody's show - hell, I miss Woody! What I also remember from that time and up through Earle's time was that since most of the games weren't televised like they are now, you had to stay up on Saturday night and they would be broadcast on public TV, with Paul Warfield doing the announcing. i used to love watching those games like that.
Yes, I think we have a friendly pair in Msuberger/Danielson

Sorry if one of the most well-known and respected (although now over-the-hill) sports announcers of all time doesn't customize his verbiage to the under-25 crowd.
Dinner must be ready, 'cuz I just heard "Dinnnng!"

Is somebody bitter at young people or what?
I am approaching 29, and have been a college football fan since I could walk..........and I have ALWAYS hated Keith Jackson. I dont care if he's 35, or 135, his voice is plain annoying. I have watched the Fiesta Bowl about 300 times, and I still wanna mute it everytime and just watch without sound
My favorite comment from him was probably where he reffered to Bam Childress as Barn Childress.

I just purchased and watched the 1969 Rose Bowl on DVD. It provids a fascinating look at how technology not to mention football have advanced. Gowdy was horrible. He had a lot of trouble following plays. During the broadcast he pointed out that Ohio State's band was playing "Hurry up Sloopy!".

I must have not been paying attention when I looked at the thread title on the main page. I thought it said "Keith Jackson Quits"
I had already ordered the pizza and beer to throw a big party. I guess I will have to cancel the party (but keep the beer).

11:07 -- All right, this wasn't just the highlight of the game, it might have been the highlight of my life. Here's an actual transcript of Keith Jackson reading an "Emily's Reasons Why Not" promo (10 minutes after I wished for it): "Don't miss the season's premiere of 'Emily's Reasons Why Not.' [Mumbling to someone off-camera.] 'Emily's Reasons' ... I don't know. [Back to the promo.] Starring Heather ... Graham. A new comedy about love, laughter and life, premiering at Monday, 9 central, followed by an all-new 'Jake' ... [prolonged pause] ... in Progress,' starring John Stah-mos." (Note: That was 10 times funnier if you imagine Stamos flipping out in his living room, screaming, "It's STAY-mos, you old fart! STAY-mos!" before flipping over his 40-inch Sony Wega, breaking a coffee table and finally being consoled by Dave Coulier and his publicist, Lewis Kay.)
When I heard this durin he Rose Bowl, it was so obvious that he had no idea what he was pitching, I thought something must have been wrong with the television. I honestly thought I heard him mumble "who cares?" in the middle of that pitch. Hilareous.

TRESSEL: Not by Saturday. So, I don't know, I don't give it any thought.

I think he did say "who cares." I looked around the room when that happened and I must have been the only one paying attention, everyone else was talking or staring blankly at the TV.

Keith Jackson is my hero.
If someone could find/post more quotes of his, that would be nice. I'd even give you 5 Whoa Nellys.
