I'm surprised we haven't heard anything about this on espIn or their tabloid magazine. Hopefully this is all taken care of and we hear no more on any improprieties.

Is this actual news or just something we just found out about now? As in will we be seeing this elsewhere in the news media, namely espin?
Edit: I take back what I said earlier hearing that this isn't actually new news. I was just worried since the old TSmith info was "new" and he was punished afterwards.

This was on channel 10 at 6:00 p.m. last night. I was shocked nobody posted it, but didn't want to post it myself and become a sensationalist.
At the time, I was thinking, "There has to be more to this." All they told was that there were letters of reprimand in both Tressel's and Bollman's files on violations with recruits. There was also something about Tressel giving a recruit a jersey several years ago, et cetera. Stuff that they didn't bother to prove or reveal sources, or explain WHY they chose now to mention it.
I'm not worried. There's always a reason behind it that explains it away. I'm just shocked that channel 10 decided to come out with this little "expose" at 6:00 p.m. and then didn't repeat it on their later newscast.
I'm also shocked to see McDaniel Automotive back in the news...my boss and the owner of McDaniel's are good friends, they go to church together, and FWIW, he WOULD have treated Clarett fairly. I was just working with Mrs. McDaniel a few days ago on designing some flyers for their Church. They're decent people and not the type you'd expect to hear mentioned in the same sentence as Clarett. Sad, really. :-/
Now just let me remove my scarlet-colored glasses, and everything will be fine.

we havent heard anything because it was all handled properly. the only thing wrong that I see is the tutor, which i understand is against the NCAA rules....but technically they tried to help a kid pass a test so he could get in to school. how dare they!
i like the quotes from Bollman saying 'dont give him a loan just because he knows me'.

The story that is missed here is that THE Ohio State University TOOK ACTION IN 2002 when the violation came to light. It wasn't [censored]ett exposing a corrupt program.

exactly.....there is no story. NCAA was informed and declared the incident a secondary violation and felt tOSU handled it properly and by the book. We self-reported the incident, not the other way around. I hope people don't lose sight of that fact after ESPN runs with it.

If OSU were corrupt, they wouldn't have a file on Bollman and Tressel, and it wouldn't contain letters of reprimand from 2002.

This is something that myself and some others were aware of and it pertains to the rumor mill threads but I just didn't know what player it involved and what coach did it.
To keep you guys in the loop with all of this crap, things seemed to have calmed down significantly around OSU. I have heard that the NCAA has accepted at least most of OSU's internal investigations and this may be over with soon. There WAS some violations that occured, like this Bollman incident, but Geiger did a great job at reporting the things he was aware of and the NCAA has not sought any punishment so far.
I would expect to hear a few more stories like this one in the near future but I think the NCAA is quite satisfied with the actions of Geiger.
