You people shouldn't even respond to Louis. This is just a 13 year old kid with knowledge of the Buckeyes who is trying to stir the pot. If he knew anything about football, he would know that Fox is scary good, and the potential that EJ and Youbouty have already shown, especially for youngsters with little to no experience, is unbelievable. Tressel has flat-out stated that EJ is the most talented CB he has ever coached.

Loser (louis), tell me something. How many scores has Fox given up? How many times has he been burnt deep? Gamble gave up more TD's last year than Fox, and he was a first round draft pick (whick I will eat crow and admit I didn't think he would go in the first round--but that is aside from the point). Whitner was a five-star recruit. Brandon Mitchell started his first four games EVER in an OSU uniform. He was also voted the hardest hitter in fall practice last year. The biggest knock on Fox was his propensity for getting pass interference penalties, and that largely fell by the wayside in the second half of last season. The kid is scary-fast, and has excellent closing speed. AND, he is smart enough to interfere as opposed to giving up a big play.

Juan Valdez......knock off the narcotics....your such a homo.

I encourage you to go to the O Zone and read the article from Dantonio about our defensive scheme. It was published in December before the Bowl Game. Basically Dantonio ripped into idiots like yourself that don't understand how our defense works. He stated that Fox was extremely solid and that he had only been beaten a few times all year.He even expalined for schmucks like you, how the scheme works and how Fox fits into the scheme so well. I agree that he had a few too many PI calls but at least he is aggressive.

Whitner is our starter and he deserves props....Underwood played sparingly as a freshman and then was hurt. JT comments about his ability are enough to have anyone with a few synapses firing to salivate. Our DL is so damn athletic and tough that we will break some sack records in the next two years.

I guess someone on this board has to be the one that everyone hates...Keep posting as I enjoy throttling your 8th grade football knowledge.

Fox gave up a score in his first start against South Carolina in the 2002 bowl game didn't he ? He has given up scores since too like against Illinois in 2002 when he was being abused in word and play by Illinois wide-receivers. How about you showing me how many pass interference calls he's had since he became a starter ? Don't watch the North Carolina State or Purdue games from last year, to help you out a bit. And he did all that going usually against the #2s, this year he gets to be The Man and go against the #1s. I hate to say it but I think his defenders like him for reasons other than his play which is just average.

Lets see a show of hands of people who've been impressed by Underwood ? He came in with a lot of hype but hype don't mean jack[censored], just ask Curtis Crosby, BJ Barre, etc. Youboty did what exactly ?

Everett, Mitchell, Salley, and Whitner have all had flashes but it the steady burn of consistency that matters. And none have shown it yet. And guess what, Dantonio isn't here to coach them anymore. With our secondary, I'll believe it when I see it. I doubt their talent and I doubt their coaching. There isn't a Dantonio or Tenuta back there, no offense to Mel Tucker.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but we play a field and boundry corner don't we? We do not shift our corners to cover certain people. So if this is the case, please explain to me how last year Fox was always on the #2 guy and now this year he has to change that and cover the #1 guy.

Funny how Gamble nearly always matched up against Reggie Williams, Jerricho Cotchery, Braylon Edwards, etc., isn't it ?

Mili did a great breakdown at one point over on BN about how often Gamble was on Edwards and it was surprising how often he was not the primary one in coverage. OSU does not play much man-to-man coverages. The is a lot of times where the DBs pass the receivers off in the secondary and we don't know who has what responcibilities.

I will say the most offenses put there Prime Time WR to the side of the formation they feel will get him the ball. Whether that is Field or Boundry may play a small part, but I would not swear to it. Offenses often play to get mismatches in the secondary i.e. Saftey on WRs, Corner on TE and such.

Fox plays the BOundry corner and in turn gets more balls thrown at him. Face it, it is an easier throw and much less reaction time for interceptions. Fact of the game. Field corner usually has more time to break on a bad or floated pass. Field corner also has more time to get in better position to defend the pass while it is in the air. Boundry corner has to make a quick play on the ball and while I am not making excuses for the PI calls on Fox, I certainly understand them more. Just my Opinion.

Watch the games, Gamble usually going against other team's best wide receiver. That's just fact.

I've not been impressed with Underwood. All I remember is him getting burnt for a score because he wouldn't look back at ball
Wasnt he a true freshman at the time? Hopefully he has improved since then. Im gonna hold off calling him great or averaged till he has played a few more games.

Both positions at times are responsible for covering the tight end. A quality TE is a mismatch for any defense. Safeties, in general, aren't big enough to cover them and linebackers are often times not quick enough. Watch Tony Gonalez from the Chiefs. He runs away from linebackers and muscles safeties using his body to shield them away from the ball in traffic. There really is no answer for a big man with speed. Look no further than the Fiesta Bowl a couple years ago. I was really looking forward to watching Hamby and LI give defenses fits this fall...
Good points. I dont know how many TE were gonna face like that this year...but i think Matthews and or Mitchell would do a decent job as they are both big and fast.
