5th BCS bowl just plain dumb
today it is said that there has been an agreement to add a 5th BCS bowl in 2006. This seems relatively pointless because it will be at an already existing bowl site (rose, orange, fiesta, sugar) and wont be a finals type bowl that would've last year pitted LSU against USC. Quite simply it will just be two more teams playing. Also it will follow the standard BCS formula making it unlikely that even with an extra bowl, a mid-major team still wont qualify. This 5th BCS bowl is very much pointless and just plain dumb

Damnit, but don't you know that you and I just have to know who's the bestest of the bestest ? That's what's really driving this, not some old fat [censored]s counting money somewhere.

You get the feeling that they wanted to add another Bowl outside of the BCS four to the mix which would include BCS teams ranked #9 and #10. Then the four BCS schools hit the roof as they weren't interested in sharing/losing revenue for their own games. So to appease them and raise more money for all they add this 5th game, 2 at one site none the less.
The BCS contract is up in 2006 and you will see another extension through 2010. Maybe after that we will have a playoff....Greed always wins out.

Guys, why are you all so upset at this? Don't you see this is a step in the right direction. First, add another BCS bowl, then another, and another....before you know it, the "Bowl Season" will be like a state High School Basketball Tournament; EVERYONE IS INVITED!! Then, we won't have this miserable "Off season" to deal with anymore...we'll have "college" FB YEAR-ROUND! So what if the "Student-Athletes" don't have time to go to class. Hell, if they really want an education, let them play Ivy League or Division III ball. The fans will love this new development.
