Dukes is somewhat limited so far because of post-season surgery.

I guess we can't put anything off.
But what really surprises me is that Antonio Smith wasn't even on the 2 deep last spring. And Welch was listed as #2 CB.
It seems like Welch may still be in the "doghouse" with Tressel.

Theres a couple things that shocked me when I looked at the chart...
First Biggest Surprise is in the secondary... I don't think Antonio Smith will hold on to the CB Job (I hope he proves me wrong though) because lets be honest the coaches LOVE the big corners and lookwhos behind him, Donald Washington who's listed at 6'1" 185. The other surprise is Nick Patterson at Saftey ahead of Mitchell for sure last year Salley really liked what he saw from Patterson. Either way though Nick or Brandon will alternate as Nickleback whoever gets beat out.
My Second biggest Surprise is at linebacker... I'm honestly very surprised that D'Andrea is not starting in the middle. I wonder if this is due to Kerr atleast being able to practice and give the team looks for the past two years. Where as D'andrea has been hurt and hasn't been able to contribute as much.
Another mild surprise is Nicol over Frost... What gives? I thought Frost did a pretty good job when he played, and I believe he's a better reciever. For sure I do believe Nicol is a better blocker so I guess I'm not surprised as much as the others I've listed.
Either way I think these depth charts are very rough and give a lot of credit to the seniors and people that have been there before. I think come Fall ball we'll see some changes most likely with the RCB and maybe some linebacker positions.

We'll see if this depth chart holds up, some of the positions look a little premature.
I expected mitchell at FS, but there were a number who were in patterson's camp (Grad IIRC).

carp was listed at DE last year? If he gets a shot there, it will be spot duty.

JamO has been projected as a safety for a while. Scout however ranks some safeties as CBs (ie Whitner). ... edit: JamO barely played any nickelback, mostly garbage time.

if smith holds this spot (due to being as good as you believe), then there probably is no doghouse issue with Welch.
