Tressel Dominates Post-Season
This is sort of a spin-off of my Want a NC ring? Play for Tressel thread from last summer. After going 1-3 in his first four post-season games (I-AA playoffs), since 1991 Jim Tressel has gone a staggering 26-3 in the post season, including a run of 15 straight I-AA playoff wins, five consensus national titles, and two national runners-up. With the possible exception of the coach of Mount Union, I can think of no one who has so completely dominated the post-season in college football like Tressel has.
Toss in his 4-1 record against Michigan (which is our annual "regular-season post-season" game), and he's a mind-boggling 30-4 in "big games" since 1991. I don't know about you, but there's no one I'd rather have holding the clipboard on the sidelines for me...

Beeeautiful!!!!...I'm hoping I don't have to constantly defend him again this year...Being from Youngstown and watching him for much longer than just his tOSU tenure, I know what he's about...If someone hasn't seen what he brings to the table by now...It's not worth my time...
Great job Mili!!!

I love it. As I went through college at YSU (88-93) my buddies and I would always talk about where Tress might end up. Coach won NCs at YSU in 91, 93, 94, and 97 and people in Youngstown were dancing in the streets. When talk surfaced about the "U" job and Coach leaving for Miami we were sure that he wouldn't go. Sure enough he turned down the U and that's when we all knew that he was holding out for the Ohio State job.
I can't tell you how happy I was when Coach Tressel was named as the Ohio State head coach. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I had been in Columbus for three years when Coach got the job. I was taking phone calls all day from my friends all over the country who are YSU alums. To a person they all said "Ohio State just got themselves a NC in the next four years. Sure enough, Coach won it in 02.

Yep, I remember when he got hired as Cooper's replacement and many thought that Tressel was going to be in over his head. Looks like he's done OK at the I-A level, too. You know, if you consider the I-AA playoff semi-final games (top 4 remaining teams) as the rough equivalent of a non-NC BCS bowl (like the Fiesta, Orange, and Sugar bowls were this year), Tressel is 8-0 in those games...never lost a I-AA semi-final playoff game (six games) and is 2-0 in non-NC Fiesta Bowls. Put that together with his 5-2 record in actual national title games, and he's 13-2 in BCS bowl and equivalent games.

Isn't life so much better when the Buckeyes beat Michigan and win their bowl game? Just brings a smile to your face and a warm happy feeling in your heart. The word "nirvana" comes to mind.

Just further evidence of my claim that the great state of Ohio rules college football.
