NCAA: Jesse, Jack, and Archie among most influential ever

As part of its centennial celebrations, the NCAA has listed the 100 most influential student-athletes of all time.

Two Ohio State athletes are among the top 10: Jesse Owens (3) and Jack Nicklaus (8). Archie Griffin (87) is also on the list. http://web1.ncaa.org/cent/mostInfluential.jsp

Although one of the ads for the list shows Jerry Lucas, he is not on the list.

I imagine they are going on: He led the Yale '68 team to an undefeated season (with that 29-29 Harvard fiasco), was a 4-time All-Pro that was the first Cowboy to gain 1000 yards rushing, and is Grant Hill's father.

Now, that said, is that enough for the list? Definitely debatable.

"Influential" how I guess is the question...on their sport? on all sports? in general? I mean the same could be said for Jerry Rice, who has been a fantasic football player...but influential? In what way?
