Are you referring to the contact between Tim Tebow, who had enrolled at Florida in early January, and C.J. Spiller just being NLOID?

This got reported as a possible violation, but Spiller said he had invited Tebow to attend his last home basketball game. Tebow was a good friend of Spiller's, and was the only Gator player who came to the game, so it wasn't a violation. And Spiller committed to Clemson.

Florida reported the visit to the SEC the next day, and I'd say that for this incident, Urban Meyer wasn't involved in anything unseemly. I don't believe that this thing with Spiller and Tebow should be cited to tarnish Meyer's reputation. Are you aware of anything else?

If JT suddenly retired I wouldn't care who was chosen to replace him because I would have committed suicide by repeatedly punching myself in the face.

Remember though that Urban Meyer's Utah teams absolutely pasted their opponents! The "level of competition" and "weak conference" arguments went out the window in 2004 when Utah beat all 12 teams they played by two TDs or more, scored 40+ points in nine of their games, and broke 60 a few times too. Texas A&M and Pitt, with all their warts, weren't pushovers either, especially for a program like Utah.

Utah was goooood. Bowling Green was goooood.

Remember, Zook's Florida teams went 8-5, 8-5, and 7-5, were 0-3 in bowls, and 1-5 against FSU & Miami.

Meyer took over, juggled the square-peg/round-hole talent problem, and promptly went 9-3, won his bowl, and dismantled FSU 34-7. There's no shame in losing to LSU or Alabama either.

Meyer is one hell of a coach.

Thats the rumor from a gaggle of lawyers. I wouldn't bet my life on it, but from everything else we've heard in the media since his hiring it makes a bunch of sense.

Zook was, and is crap. That I won't argue. But Urban has not played Miami. Urban played a week FSU and Tennessee this past year. A friend from Dublin flew down for the FSU/UF game, and it was great to see a 34/7 victory at home, but I don't expect something similar this next year.

Urban got very lucky this year, and even then we lost to South Carolina, and have to host them this year. Zook was very unlucky to get Miami in his years for the first time since the early 80's.

That being said, Urban is one hell of a coach. The NCAA violation story has gone nowhere, and we have a great team looking ahead in years.

I know Tim Tebows brother Peter quite well. His girlfriend is a friend of mine and we hang out regularly and play poker. Peter Tebow is on my flag football team as QB(even though he played LB and other stuff in High Schoo) and I can assure you that if Tim has the talent in running that Peter has, and Tim is also taller(and bigger in general), that UF will be something to watch out for next year when Leak retires and Timmy has some time under his belt.

If we had lost Timmy to Alabama as was expected, Gainesville would have gotten ugly, quickly.

Here are details of his contract obtained via a FOIA request last May. There is no mention of specific schools he can go to, and it specifically states that there is no 'out clause' like his Utah contract had.
