OL J.B. Shugarts (official thread)

I'm not running to bucknuts to jump off the ledge with everybody, but Buckeye fans chuckle at the WVU fans who seem to be living in denial about JJ. This is the 4th or 5th time that something is just a coincidence with JB. He's supporting his teammate kicker or he's taking his mom to a game........eventually you have to wonder.

I am as skeptical as they come when it comes to recruiting (Navarro Bowman withstanding) and I am not concerned about this situation at all.

I hear you...but the diff between JJ and JB is that JJ says Ohio State and WVU are even...whereas JB has professed he is 100% committed. I agree, though, when I saw Wad's post, I cringed for a sec.

Do any LSU fans or recruitniks claim that they are still in the game for Shugarts? Regardless of whether he says he's 100% Buckeye, if someone has some reason to believe that they are still in the game, then they are probably still in the game.

After reading the latest update, it seemed that he made a point to talk about the visit to OSU for the Wisky game and also to go into detail about taking his Mom who is a VT alum.....doesn't sound like anything has changed.....but....recruiting is a strange world.

I shouldn't have compared Shugarts to Jenkins as recruits and their situation......rather what I was getting at is the way the fans are acting on the WVU boards. They're convinced that they're getting Jenkins because he said so several months ago. Everything else has a nice little excuse as to why he isn't going to OSU. It seems like OSU fans are starting to sound just like them.

LSU fans claim that they will get him to switch and that they have been coming on very strong for him over the last month... Claim that this visit was supposed to be on the down-low and he is using the excuse about taking his mom to a VT game to cover up the fact that he didn't want people to know...

I still feel J.B. is a Buckeye in the end...

Which seems to be the big difference. It comes down to haberno's question... are the 'stealing team' insiders that confident? Or just holding out any hope? I don't really care what the fans say... I care why they are saying it. If they're repeating their insiders' take, that would hold more water than the free board mobs latching onto anything they can find.

I'm with you.....in the end I don't really care that much what the fans think as long as they're both Buckeyes . I still have enough faith in BP's guys to expect that outcome.

Uhh...no. I've been following recruiting since Robert Smith and Ricky Powers were All-Americans. I was just asking if there's any smoke from the other side...whenever there is smoke from the other side, there's A REASON FOR IT. Doesn't sound like there really is, so nobody's worried. Got it?

although he says he is 100% Buckeye...taking official visits (regardless of stated reason...in this case mom/VT connection) at least ALLOWS for the opportunity for him to get a good look at another very good program and possibly change his mind. The fact that he's been to LSU at least one time before and that LSU posters/insiders are chirping about him switching...there is reason to be worried here. IMO, it's following the decommit playbook at the moment...hopefully this is as far as it gets.
