I know I know absolutely nothing, but I'd much rather see Cordle inside. But again, I know nothing so it doesn't really matter what I want to see, right?

They've been shuffling guys around a lot. Brew OC/OG, same with Browning, Cordle the right 3 spots. Hopefully they can find the right lineup.

We still have all of fall camp ahead of us so I wouldn't pencil that as the lineup just yet. Shugarts, Adams, and Cordle all get reps at tackle (which is in my opinion the harder position). Therefore then they can slide inside if necessary, which is easier than sliding outside. I'd rather have them all repping at tackle and then adjusting from there.

-- I spoke with Andrew Miller about his competition with Mike Adams to start at left tackle. When I asked if J.B. Shugarts was also potentially in the running at left, he looked puzzled and said that was the first he'd heard anybody mention that possibility. Sounds like Shugarts is definitely a right tackle.

Either way the fact there is comp at every spot is a GREAT thing for our line. When is the last time we went into a camp with valid challenges on the line. Me so Happy.

We'll see how camp shakes out but if every lives up to their potential I could see Adams, Boren, Brewster, Cordle Shugarts. It puts the vets next to the rooks, upgrades the athleticism on the edge, keeps Adams next to Mr. Nasty and allows Browning to be the utility lineman and keep the line fresh by subbing in at multiple positions.

Boren injury gives Shugarts opening

Boren's injury might create an opportunity for sophomore J.B. Shugarts, the backup to senior Jim Cordle at right tackle.

Cordle played left guard last season after starting at center. With the opener weeks away, there is no immediate need to move Cordle back to guard, unless Shugarts has proved he's ready to take over at right tackle.

Going into camp, Shugarts had said that was his goal.

The immediate desire was "winning a spot," Shugarts said. "Then once I secure a spot, then I will start to make other short-term goals and long-term goals, and eventually, hopefully, one day play in the NFL."

It's a plan he's launching a season later than expected. He was a member of the "Block O" trio of highly touted offensive linemen that included center Michael Brewster and tackle Mike Adams in the 2008 recruiting class. While Brewster stepped forward early, injuries knocked back Adams and Shugarts.

Shugarts, originally from Klein, Texas, said he struggled emotionally after shoulder surgery in January and while watching spring drills.

"It was hard. I've never had to sit out like that, never had a major surgery," he said. "Especially because I'm a big guy, I like to work out a lot, and not even getting to lift weights, that was pretty tough, too.

"I never plan on having an injury like that again, knock on wood."

For the moment, at least, he appears poised to take advantage of what could be his opportunity.

"It feels good just to get the pads back on, just to hit a little bit and get after it with some people," Shugarts said. "Everything is going good, like my feet are good, the shoulder feels great. I'm just real excited to finally get to play again."

-- Here's the most interesting thing I saw in practice. In Boren's absence, they moved Andy Miller to left guard and put J.B. Shugarts at left tackle.

Miller and Adams have been splitting time at left tackle, but this is the first we've seen Shugarts there. Boren should be back before the season opener, so this could just be temporary, but it's still intriguing.
