I guess it's all subjective, but I'm 6'7" 250, 40 years old, sit in my big fat chair at my big fat desk all day, and am in way better shape (other than my old man farmer's tan).

Well, you're still 50 lbs lighter and I doubt you're in better shape. J.B.'s in a top notch S&C program year round. You don't need a 6 pack to be in shape.

Shugarts stock is way up

Sophomore tackle J.B. Shugarts said last week he intended to make an impression in this preseason camp after his star-crossed, injury-slowed freshman season. Apparently he wasn't kidding.
From evidence gathered yesterday, offensive coordinator and line coach Jim Bollman must believe Shugarts is one of the six best linemen at the moment, and perhaps one of the five best.

Sophomore J.B. Shugarts took repetitions as the first-team left tackle in Wednesday's drills for Ohio State.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The hints have been sprinkled throughout preseason camp, and when the Buckeyes took the field for practice Wednesday, they had a different starting left tackle.

In the first chance for reporters to see the team since hitting started, sophomore J.B. Shugarts was the first-team left tackle, not Andy Miller or Mike Adams, the two players who had been sharing the job during the spring and the early part of preseason camp.

Shugarts sat out the spring after shoulder surgery, then had been working as the second-team right tackle in camp so far. Wednesday was his first chance to work with the first team at left tackle, as Miller slid inside as left guard, replacing the injured Justin Boren. The rest of the line remained the same -- Mike Brewster at center, Bryant Browning at right guard and Jim Cordle at right tackle.

This doesn't mean that Shugarts, a 6-8, 305-pound sophomore, has won the job, but it clearly means that a two-man battle to replace Alex Boone has morphed into a three-man fight. Adams spent his day working at left tackle on the second line.

Shugarts said before camp that offensive line coach Jim Bollman had asked him to work on some left tackle drills over the summer, though the assumption had been that Shugarts was more in the mix at right tackle. Now we know why.

I've always been of the opinion that Shugarts needs to start somewhere, but I just thought that would be RT. Then again, he may very well be our best all round tackle and it would make since to put your best tackle at LT. There are many ways you could take this though. When Boren comes back and Miller is at tackle again, you would think someone needs to move to RT though, seeing as how you have an unproven tackle with Cordle (imo he could possibly be a Bryant Browning who is a square peg in a round hole). It will be interesting to see where everyone is at in the jersey scrimmage.

DL is being a negative nancy on this. He is worried that it's a bad sign Shugarts is being looked at LT. Glass half full situation?
