New Friends/team-mates
When they met on the football field last fall in the first round Div II playoff game, they opposed one another and it was an all out battle. As we all know Piqua prevailed and TCC's reign as State Champs was over. Little did these two know that they would become friends or even room-mates later in the year. This is one of those combinations that sounds good when you say "dane and saine", and feels good knowing that both have the potential to make an impact at tOSU. If you could be a fly on the wall during the next four years to hear what they would be saying. If you could experience what they will in the upcoming seasons as they enrichen the lives of all that follow them and the team. These things would be very cool. Summer football camp starts for Dane next week and I assume Brandon will join him as well. These guys love playing football and what could be better than seeing them both practicing and meeting the challenges that they will face. They both will have many successes.
Brandon's coach Nees is willing to bet his reputation that Saine will succeed at Ohio State, he said
Quote:
|
"Brandon has a burning desire to do everything successfully," Nees said. "He's going to succeed because he has such a great work ethic. People like him can't fail."
|
Central Catholic coach Greg Dempsey said Sanzenbacher, who made an oral commitment to Ohio State last summer, never backed off playing the game at top speed, despite the security of knowing his football future with the Buckeyes was already set.
Quote:
"Before the season started, he had Ohio State in the bag, and he could have put it in cruise control and just been careful so he wouldn't get injured," Dempsey said. "But he just hit it harder than ever. Dane just did everything that needed to be done. You just don't see many star players work as hard as he has."
Dempsey said that Sanzenbacher has a proven record of meeting challenges, and he expects that to continue when the 6-0, 180-pounder gets to Columbus.
|
That being said, I really look forward to seeing them both perform as they take those abilities to the next level. tOSU football just got that much better (if that's possible). Go Bucks!

Between track and enrolling this summer, this weekend was their only chance to celebrate his graduation. That was the reason I was given for his absence from the North South game.

My understanding was he is planning on being on campus this week though to enroll and begin summer practice. I can understand him not playing but the North sure did miss him. If Saine would have played, the two may have cancelled each other out.

Keeping up With the Big Boys
Dane and Cam Heyward were reported as being hosts to Kevin Koger and his father. We are all waiting for a decision from Kevin to be the second Toledo athlete in two years to commit to tOSU. (I forgot about William Buford in B Ball - he would 3)
In speaking with Mr Sanzenbacher, his son is "keepig up with the big boys". Translation: Dane is doing well so far in practice and is keeping pace with his team-mates during these past few weeks and is in good health. This is coming from someone who is very humble and not boastful. Sub-translation: Dane is doing damn good and is probably getting his butt kicked a little but is lovin every minute of it. (my speculation!)
So, I am sure he was convincing as a host and spoke well of the program. Having Koger and Sanzenbacher playing for the Bucks would make my day, week, month, year, ... decade. We wait, Sept 1 is still out there a ways.

WR Comparisons (updated 7-26-07 at 10:37 pm)
Here are this years and lasts WR Comparisons, the 2008 Class has their senior season to play yet. I didn't find a 2006 yards received for T. Washington. These comparisons don't include yards rushing, kickoff and punt returns etc (except Sanzenbacher which I did have). Feel free to forward any updates or any suggestions.
Updated: Added what infornation I could on Ginn, Hartline, Small. Information contributions are welcome - table is unprotectcted!
