Freshmen Impressing: The Ohio State freshman class is making a very favorable impression on the coaching staff. So much so that it looks like more than half of that class could contribute this season.
Wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher is currently working with the first unit as the slot receiver, the position vacated by Anthony Gonzalez. OSU Head Coach Jim Tressel listed the other freshmen who look like they have a chance to play.
"Cameron Hayward has stood out the whole time he's been here," said Tressel, and that's good news for the Buckeyes who are looking for interior defensive linemen this fall.
"I think he played very well. Those freshman wide outs have done well (Sanzenbacher and Taurian Washington).

Quarterback Rob Schoenhoft was on a roll Saturday. When asked what he thought of the team's young receivers, he said freshman Dane Sanzenbacher "reminds me of a mix of Brian Hartline and Anthony Gonzalez. He's going to be a special player down the road."

Bet Heavy on that Horse!
Schoenhoft seems to recognize talent when he sees it. Sanzenbacher can be a one man recking crew. I have seen him total take over games on the high school level. I see no reason he can not make a smooth trasnition for the Bucks. Look for great things from this kid, he will be the next Gonzo, bet on it!
Go Bucks!!!!!!

Diamond in the Rough
This piece mentions Dane's achievements and speculation in seeing him in the three receiver set this year.

We could see him on the field in the first three reciever set of the season. All_Good_In_The_Hood will have a open practice summary.....maybe he'll have some information on the freshman(#12). There always seems to be a freshman step up.....and it's usually just like this....the one you didn't expect. Here's my current WR top to bottom list.....it is ever changing....you will notice three Frosh moving up fast.

Scout Practice in Review:

Hazell confirmed that Dane Sanzenbacher would be the third wide receiver if OSU started play today because of the injury to Ray Small. During one-on-one drills, Sanzenbacher lost classmate Donnie Evege on a post corner route for a long score. He later dropped a bullet of a pass while sitting in a zone.

Special Qualities
Looks like Dane will see some action, he developed in HS as someone with the ability to learn and adapt very quickly. It's good to see he's adapting to CFB level so quickly. No Surprise from my perspective.

Freshman cracks lineup
With sophomore Ray Small sidelined with an ankle injury, true freshman Dane Sanzenbacher has become the team's third receiver behind Brian Robiskie and Brian Hartline.
"Dane has done an unbelievable job," receivers coach Darrell Hazell said. "I think what's propelled him past some other guys is he's able to learn, retain and apply. Those are his special qualities."
