Dane is still leaning toward Ohio State; he could decide as soonn as tomorrow.

While I do agree about the young mans attitude and desire to be a buckeye, I think this young man is a serious reach by this staff. I can see making an offer if you have room in December (late) but in July????
His current offers are all MAC schools with the exception of Iowa. I just dont see him ever making a major contribution. He's not particularly tall and IMO he is too slow to put in the secondary. Basically, he is probably going to be a possession type reciever or special teams player. Thats why Im really surprised at an offer this early given his size, speed and offers

The time in the 400 has no relationship to how fast you are in the 40. Thats almost like comparing his time in the 800 to the 40

OSU's staff had the ability to check him out at camp. Based upon what they saw, they offered him almost immediately. He also got an offer on the spot while camping at Iowa. I think that says a lot.

I agree.
Kirk Ferentz and Jim Tressel are two of the best when it comes to knowing talent.

A lot of guys that run fast 40's don't translate to fast guys on the football field. Just like comparing the 400 or 800 to the 40 isn't a perfect comparison neither is comparing a 40 on a track with no one chasing you to a 40 yd. pass reception with the ball in your hands and 11 guys trying to take your head off.
I watched the kid in a couple playoff games and the state championship game and he was always the fastest guy on the field. He is simply a player. If you have an opportunity to see film on him I think you will feel more comfortable with Dane.
I would look at the timing of the offer differently...since they offered him this early, right after he camped with them, I feel they are extremely comfortable with him. The reaches come late in the game not early.

Serious reach? A proven staff of recruiters watched him in person...they liked what they saw and they offered.
What is more of a reach here...your assessment and stereotyping based on an offer list and 40 time or the staff's firsthand assessment?
Good to see you are back to your typical negativity Rob...
