BestBuck36, I can tell you one thing about Sanzenbacher, his name is synonymous with humble. The kid seemed to be all about team when he was at Toledo Central Catholic.
The long ball looked to me like it floated on him. The slant over the middle he probably should have had, but we will chalk that up to first game jitters. The thing that really impressed me was the great block he had on the Mo Wells run, Mo probably picked up an extra 4 yards because of that block. Made a nice catch for the first down with a defender all over his back as well.
I think he an Taurian are going to be a great 1 - 2 punch in years to come.
GO BUCKS!!!!

Dane was quicker than I expected. His route running is very very good compared to most freshmen. I think next week the playbook may open a little more. I would love to see him and Washington continue to impress. Looks like the Buckeye class is slightly underrated

His route running and quickness were always very good (in HS). Now that he's playing CFB it's good to see that he can make the adjustment so quickly to play at this level. Running track into June of this year had to help his conditioning (ie quickness) as he ran in the State finals in the 400. He actually ran against Brandon Saine in 2006 in that same event and took a fourth. And we have seen what a burner Zoom can be. These kids are very talented and full of surprises.
The things that are always impossible to measure are game smarts, the ability to adapt in a game, and to learn and and apply. Dane has those abilities (from my observations) and when Ohio State opens that playbook, we will witness how he does as a newbie. The skill set is there, now will he apply what he's learned and be productive? IMO, he will, just as Taurian and Brandon will show more of their stuff. Tressel saw these young men as "diamonds in the rough", it's his job to polish them to their fullest potential. The rest is up to them and how well they apply that skill.
Maybe an under-rated class has fewer lofty expectations to meet and more to prove. This is going to be a very good season as we watch them mature and produce.
Go Bucks!

I'm not sure if this has been posted in Dane's thread or not, but they had this to say during the game and I found it listed in his Scout profile....
Quote:

A big-game player, he had 40 receptions for 842 yards and 9 touchdowns, 40 solo tackles and 8 interceptions in 7 career playoff games.
|
Those are very impressive numbers for such big games.

Some Quotes from the Frosh
Todd Boeckman in speaking specifically about Saine, Sanzenbacher, Washington and Torrence.
Quote:
|
"You know, you get the ball in their hand, they're fast," he said. "They can make plays. Just get it in their hand, they're going to make something happen."
|
How fast? Witness Sanzenbacher's recollection of his first catch, the grab of a bullet from Boeckman for the Buckeyes' first TD of the season, a 3-yard play.
Quote:
"To be honest, it was like a blur," he said. "It seemed like they snapped the ball and then I was handing it to the ref. Everything went by way fast."
Not fast enough for his fellow plebes on the sideline to miss it, Heyward said. It was the same when Washington caught a pass from Antonio Henton over the middle in the fourth quarter and turned it into a 37-yard quick six. Their freshman brethren were watching.
"Every time they were on the field, we were all cheering for them," Heyward said. "We're going to dedicate ourselves, we're going to help each other, and we're going to keep pushing each other to the limit."
|
I really like that last quote from Cam Heywerd. This is why the freshman seemed to have come alive, they appear to be a more cohesive unit "dedicated" to seeing the others do well.

I agree. This class seems to be very well united. Looking forward to watching them get better and better. Starting off as good as they are bodes really well...

If you look at UTgrads pics right above your post it goes right through his hands. Nonetheless he'll make those catches later on and he'll have to. Thats what playing at Ohio State is all about. The footprints are huge from the receivers standpoint and our tradition. Those plays come but to even be in the game and producing as a freshman, means he's special.
