First Catch
Saw Scoot's father last night at the TCC v St. John's HS football game. He didn't make the trip to Seattle apparently. I hadn't seen him since just before the YSU game. I congratulated him on his son making his first catch/TD and he gratiously accepted (on his son's behalf). He went on about the first two games, his 'blocking', and this week's outlook with Washington. He said he had a hunch that Dane will catch one for a score this week because the DBs will be double teaming Robo- we'll have to wait a few hours yet for that to play out. I hope he's right.
He also said the Buckeyes were having a great time sightseeing and went to the Fisherman's Market. As some of the Buckeyes walked in, one of the fish sales people at the market wanted to know who the wide receivers were. He then picked up a salmon and passed it to one of the WRs. According to the story (being relayed by Dane to his Dad to me) he caught it! No news on who he was or whether he ran with it afterwards, but I'd say it's a good omen making the "first catch" of the weekend!! True story, and where did I read that earlier? Hmmm?

Dane had a monster block on one of OSU's longer runs.

I missed the block during the game and I haven't replayed the game yet, do you remember what quarter and what run that was on? Dane (by his own admission) needs to work on his blocking, and he missed one against Reggie Corner last week on the Saine screen pass. His dad told me that Dane thought his blocking needed improvement. It sounds like that improvement is being adddressed and will give him a rep for that one. He's a well rounded player, those refinements will make him even better.

At the 1:18 mark is Brandon Saine's 28 yard run. Dane makes a critical block on the outside and absolutely pancakes the DB. That deserves a Buckeye leaf.

EDIT- Since the embeded version's clock is a countdown, it'd be the 4:11 mark.

Also, for anyone who missed it, this highlight reel includes the waning seconds TD from Saine.
Nice find OregonBuckeye.

Scoot is banged up
I saw this on Scout. Does anyone know the nature of the injury?
Quote:
While the Washington game marked the season debut of the ballyhooed Ray Small at wide receiver and punt returner, it also saw another member of the wideout corps go down. Tressel said freshman Dane Sanzenbacher, who saw action early in the game, suffered an undisclosed injury.
In typical coaching terms, Tressel said Sanzenbacher both "got banged" and "was whacked." His immediate prognosis is unknown, but he is listed as the primary backup to junior Brian Robiskie on the latest depth chart.
