This is a no-brainer. How can you even go against Pittman, after the way he finished the season last year? The guy is a complete workhorse, and there's no reason that even with splitting occasional carries with Mo and Beanie, that he can't reach 1,300-1,500 yards this season.

do you think that pittman, or even 1 of our other guys has a chance on winning the heisman?

When I go to Ohio State to major in Sports Journalism, this is what I am going to do. I won't stop there, because I will try to dress and make the team.

I think that Smith, Pittman, and Ginn all have "chances" to win the Heisman. Of course, it's all in what they do on the field. I don't know if previous seasons affect the Heisman voters' opinions (but I'm pretty sure that they aren't supposed to). That said, Smith should be tied with Malcolm Jenkins for the Heisman running, at this point.

I think that if Smith comes out in the first game and plays the way he played at the end of last season, he's a top-5 contender for the Heisman. Likewise, if Pittman comes out and plays as well as he did at the end of last season, he's maybe top-10. Maybe. I guess it depends on whether Pittman and Smith steal votes from each other. I think that for Ginn to get the Heisman, he'll need at least 5 kicks/punts returns for touchdowns, as well as 50%-60% (or more) of Smith's completions, and another 8+ receiving touchdowns.

If that's the case, Wells will have to get almost twice as many carries as pittman over the last 7 games. I don't see that happening, especially with troy surely stealing carries.
This bet will be settled based only on what happens after game 5.

I think Smith has the only realistic shot at the Heisman. Ginn has an outside shot, but he'll need some clutch kick returns (a la Michigan in 2004). His problem is any brilliance he has at WR will be obviously shared by Smith. As far as Pittman goes, he won't be in the running. I think he's incredible, but he's not getting the recognition that Adrian Pederson, Michael Bush, or even Michael Hart are getting. I wouldn't trade him for any of those guys, he's just hurt by playing with more popular players like Smith and Ginn.

Bookie or no I rarely bet, but my money is on Wells.

The consensus on the board seems to be that the #1 recruit in the nation - and in all likelihood a 3 year player - will play behind Pittman for two seasons before getting his day in the sun as a Junior.

Not gonna happen.

And in looking at what Pittman did last season do not underestimate the influence of Smith, Holmes, Ginn, et al. Great Offenses make for great RBs.

OSU5NC could go either way
No offense to any of the other guys, but Pittman made that offense work. In the games he struggled (Texas, PSU), OSU lost. That was the key difference between the '04/03 offenses and the '05 one. Pittman's ability at RB helped the offense open up a little bit. I agree that Beanie is a good one, but don't underestimate Antonio either. He's likely to pass Eddie George on the career rushing yardage list by his senior year to become our #2 rusher all-time.

Now, is the bet cancelled if Pittman goes down to an injury? Because thats not really taking away carries, thats an unforseen incident that occured out of Pittmans hands?

Im taking Pittman. Tress is way too supportive of his upperclassmen to throw Pittman out of the mix and bring Beanie Wells in. Not to mention, the strength of our offense late in the reason is partially due to Pittman comming on stronger and stronger, hes a really good back. Mo Wells should also be getting a few more touch's on the rock this season.
