I don't think I've ever heard a bad story about Penn State's fans and considering I'm just about over that 63-14 pounding in '94 they may have to be my second favorite Big Ten team.

I unfortunately didn't tape the game, so I can't be percise. The jenkins TD was one that was forced, I don't know maybe that is the one you were talking about. There were others I remember while watching the game thinking to myself where is the acuracy? Or What is he thinking?

I am happy to have him as a back up, and I think he is a very good player, but I would feel much better with CK playing.

He played well enough to win, but I guess since he was built up so much, I expected him to look like Peyton Manning back there.

I haven't seen the tape either, but I came away with the impression that SMs passes were more accurate, but only marginally so. His first throw to Holmes was perfect. Beyond that they not un-CK-like.

That said, I have always backed CK because of his good decision making. Recently I have seen him make a late pass over the middle for an INT, and lose the ball by extending his arm on second down. Both dumb decisions.

Last night he again threw late across the middle - but got away with it. Then he miss-timed a very dangerous pass that ended up going for what I believe is the longest TD of his career. (why the heck we were passing in that situation when our running game was working is beyond me to begin with)

If he is going to continue to make these types of decisions I would vote for SMs superior arm.

As soon as JT calls and asks for my advice I will tell him just that.

KillerNut: McMullen was off on a few passes, but as a whole, he was more accurate than Krenzel. The first TD pass to Jenkins was near-perfect. There were others that were right on the money. There is no doubt that McMullen is the superior passer, but Krenzel is the superior leader.

I hate to say it, but Krenzel going down may have been a blessing in disguise. He looked horrible to me and the INT really scared me. When Craig starts out cold, he tends to stay cold. The same can be said when he starts out hot, there is almost no stopping him. I felt more comfortable when I heard McMullen was starting the 2nd half.

coxew,

That's what I said when he went down... he hasn't been himself since he hurt his elbow... Killer was going nuts that I would think it could be good to get SM in the game... we were going at it the rest of the game... we watched the game together (every time SM threw a good pass I would remind him why I was glad he was in... when he threw a bad pass/ bad decision then Killer would remind me why we need CK in the game).

Point is they are both good (not great) QB's that can win some games for us... it is nice to have both of them in the event one gets hurt...

The only real knock I have on Scott McMullin is the lack of running ability. WOW did he look awkward trying to pick up any yards with his feet. He looked like he did not have the slightest idea how to run with the ball in his hands. He does have the "I don't care how covered my man is, I can thread it" attitude, but I think this team needs that a little. Someone has to decide where to throw the ball and put it there.

I am glad I am not the coach, cause I would not know who to start. I feel that both are on the same playing field as far as qualities, they just have a few different ones. I would be inclided to start Krenzel, but the makes for a tough change if he struggles and does not get hurt. With the games coming up, we need someone who is going to make good decisions and not lose the game for us. Anything more than that would be gravy. I would be tickled to win the next 3 games 10 - 3 and have 200 yards of offense. Lets just win them and let the pollsters figure it out.

I would love to see and OSU vs OU defensive battle for the NC, but would be just a happy to see us throttle USC and finish with a Rose Bowl Win. (Maybe not just as happy, but . . .) However this season turns out it should be more than enough to give us true fans a few more heart pounding (or heart stopping for us fat people) moments.

I keep hearing that Happy Valley is tough to get in and out of.

Could you go into more depth about that?

Why is it so hard to get in and out of? Two lane roads? No major airport nearby?

I've never been there before - very curious as to how it is.

- Rip

Rip,

I don't know the highways, however it is basically inbetween the two major highways that run east west (one is I 70 I think)... so no matter what you have a 45-60 min. drive north/south on a non-highway... there isn't a decent sized city anywhere near it (think Athens Ohio, however cities are even farther in the case of Happy Valley), you really are in the middle of nowhere...

It is a nice quiet city/town, their main drag is nicely done, the university looks pretty, and there are some stores with good shopping... it really is a nice place, except for the fact there isn't a big city near by...
