Stupid? The guy is on a budget and is trying to weigh his options. Please tell me how that is stupid. I don't know where you're driving from, but Cincinnati to Champagne is a haul. You need to factor in the cost of lodging and meals. On the other hand, if this season goes the way most of the folks on this board think it will you better grab the bird in the hand cause Penn State tickets will be few and far between. Especially if they get by Texas.
For the record, I've seen the bucks at Ann Arbor, East Lansing, Lafayette, Bloomington and here in Cincinnati. I've enjoyed road games. I sensed a comraderie among fellow buckeyes that's warmer at away games than a home... perhaps the outsider affect. I've also found that many fans at the other schools want to demonstrate a welcoming attitude along with a bit of "we're gonna win!"
Of the four Purdue's Ross - Ayde Stadium was the worst, while their fans were the friendliest. Bloomington is an unbelieveably beautiful campus and damn near a home game. It's a great stadium to watch in unless they try and put you in the temporary seats at the north end. If the band or the alumni band would show up there it would complete the scene.

Because the question isn't "I'm on a budget" it's "Is the game worth going to".. thats all i read and thats all I responded to. My bust i suppose. |

I went back to re-read it and I can see where you're coming from... it sounds as if he's questioning the value of seeing ANY OSU game vs a KEY game. I looked at this line and decided that money was the issue.

I think my advice remains the same. The Game tickets aren't cheap even if both teams are sporting several losses. If Michigan beats ND and OSU beats Texas and both teams come into the game with no more than one loss they'll be out of sight. Same - same PSU. Illinois will be a bargain. Grab while you can or be ready to pay out the wazoo. My alumni tickets are for Cincinnati.... sigh. But you bet your ass I'm going to be there. |

I drove 5 hours to Bloomington to watch the Indiana game last year and it was awesome.

There was also a spontaneous rendition of "We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan" that broke out as my section was leaving the stadium. At that point we knew that the only thing between the Bucks and the Fiesta were those damn Wolverines.
The tailgating in Champaigne was a blast. We set up shop next to an RV of Bears fans (The Bears were playing in that stadium due to the renovation of Soldier field). Those guys were straight out of the SNL skit...da bears. It was a great day.
