Didn't Tressel put Zwick in during the end of the 2nd quarter of the 2003 Northwestern game?

Yep, Zwick to Irizarry, should've been a sure TD pass.

For all the reasons others have said, I would put 'em in there. Every Buckeye team member came to Ohio State with a dream to play in the 'Shoe and make a contribution in front of that crowd. Nothing so motivates a team and builds unity as getting a lot of people on the field. People practice harder, feel greater self-esteem, and its a win-win all around.
I would make sure that my margin of victory beat the computer models so that the getting people on the field did not keep us from getting into the NC game. But that usually isn't a problem.
Give the guys a chance to strut their stuff!

Rational side and then...
Rational side of me agrees with everyone else.
But after last year, I'd kind of like to beat PSU by at least 21 this year. Although, with Texas, I would like to win any way we can. With PSU, I feel the need to exact some revenge and punish them.
Man that was a hard fought game last year.

What a boring argument. It isn't any fun when everyone takes the same side. We need someone to root for running up the score. Anyone? Anyone?
Ok, fine. I'll take a crack at it:
What's the point of putting in second-stringers? It's not like they're ever going to play. Tomorrow never comes, and injuries never happen to the first-string guys. Besides, running it up makes all the fans want to be fans of your team. I know that after the 1994 game in Penn State, I was edging ever so close to becoming a Penn State fan. And what is this "bad blood" I've heard about? If your team gets blown out, it isn't because the other team is a bunch of jerks - it's because you never should have stepped foot on the field with them.
By the way, Steve Spurrier is an OK guy, in my opinion.

Exactly. I really hope Boeckman and Schoenhoft have an opportunity to play significant minutes this fall. Zwick obviously deserves to play some but at the end of one sided games I'd rather see Todd and Robbie out there. Getting the young guys experience in actual games will help immensely going into the 2007 season.

I agree with everyone on getting the back ups in early. Running up the score also is classless, makes enemies, and has a way of coming back to bite you. I'd rather not have that associated with the program.
QB is a position that hopefully Boeckman and Schoenhoft can get some decent reps in garbage time. I think the trick will be getting this guy playing time behind Zwick and just trying to find some pt for 2 more QBs. Going into 07 even a couple series in garbage time would help these guys.

Tressel won't call off the dogs in the PSU game unless we're up by more than 21 or it's very late in the game and we're up by that 21-point margin...he won't want to leave any chance for them to make a comeback.
