Personal pref. - run up the stats v/s 2nd string PT
In any given game this year ( or any year); if OSU was up 31-7 at the beginning of the 4th quarter and Smith,Ginn,Pittman, etc. had above average stats for the game ( i.e. 110 yards rushing/ receiving)., would you rather see Tres. keep the starters in until the 2 minute warning to "pad" the stats or would you rather see the new faces get some burn ?
Me personally, I would love to see Mo Wells / CWells, Holman, Rose, and all of the recruits strut their stuff for a full quarter.
How about you ?

assuming there is no bad blood, I see no reason to run up the score.
The backups are the stars of tomorrow, and the 04 season started out poorly in part b/c those guys rarely saw the field as backups in 02-03 (too many close games).

Get the backups playing time. There is no point in running up the score, not to mention Tress would never do it.

Exactly. I really hope Boeckman and Schoenhoft have an opportunity to play significant minutes this fall. Zwick obviously deserves to play some but at the end of one sided games I'd rather see Todd and Robbie out there. Getting the young guys experience in actual games will help immensely going into the 2007 season.

Get'em in there. Cuts down on possible starter injuries and gets our younger guys seasoned against real competition. AJ came on huge after getting some PT his first year.

I agree with what's been said; get experience for the younger guys, and reduce the risk of injury to the current stars.
And the real reason: Give us message board folks some actual playing time for the backups, in order to better speculate on their future performances and argue about next year's starters.

put the younger guys in, they deserve to get some playing time. but i see where you can say hey keep ginn, smith, or pittman out there so they have a better shot at getting the heisman or any other award.

My great great uncle Clifford Heffelfinger (#45) played at OSU in 1939. And my cousin Evan Jablonka (#84) plays right now. Anyway, I read if you're related to somebody who has played at Ohio State, they will put you on their practice squad. But that doesn't mean you'll dress for the games though. When I go to Ohio State to major in Sports Journalism, this is what I am going to do. I won't stop there, because I will try to dress and make the team.

Doesn't Jim Tressel try to play as many players as he can especially the Special Teams? ( example ) the punt return and Kick-off teams. Other than that it seems alot of players get a load of playing times anyway. But yes i would rathter see the 2nd string get Playing time verses running up the stats when a game is well in hand. Tressel does seem to handle his players well especially the scout teams during the practice week.
