Could it be that you just hate the Michigan #1 jersey?

So, as long as they play like studs and have a first name beginning with "G" it's theirs for the taking

Unless I'm missing some kind of joke or sarcasm, don't you mean last name?

It may be a little early to write Underwood and Welch off the roster. Mr Ed over at Ozone talked to OSU. They have a chance to come back this year.

I guess I misunderstood your original post:

I didn't realize that you were going through all the guys whose names start with G and who wore #7. I thought that you meant that Henton wasn't good enough to wear #7, and that Gant will be good enough. You want to see guys continue that G&7 tradition. (And I'm sure you wouldn't mind if they all kicked ass, eh?)
I'd just hate to see a player want to do well mainly so that he can earn a #7 jersey or a #1 jersey or whatever. He should want to do well so that he helps his team win games. That's why I think the Michigan #1 tradition is terrible.

Not necessarily...Coleman could play on coverage teams and Small on return teams. In fact, I bet that's what will happen.
