Most recognizable CFB helmets (no initials/name)
If you had 1,000 college football fans from across the country in an auditorium and had a slide-show poll of helmets (show a slide of a team's helmet and have fans guess which one it is...show all teams which do not have school initials/name on them, i.e., LSU, UCLA, California, Nebraska, Utah, Hawaii, Oregon, Oklahoma State, etc.), which helmets would be the most recognizable, i.e., get the most votes correct? My guess that these would be at the top (not necessarily in order):
1. Michigan
2. Ohio State (w/leaf stickers covering left side)
3. Texas
4. Miami (Fl)
5. Notre Dame
6. Penn State
7. Southern Cal
8. Iowa
9. Florida State
10. Michigan State
What say you?

Note on ND: Helmets are not unique. Other teams have gold helmets too.

I always liked the Alabama helmet with the numbers on the side, does anyone else do that? That's pretty recognizable, but I bet most fans wouldn't know that was Alabama.

I agree and disagree on Bama. Yes, I love that they still sport the jersey number on their melons, but I think any college fan would recognize their helmets from a slide show.
1. scUM
2. Texas
3. Ohio State
4. Miami
5. Florida State
6. Alabama
7. Texas A&M
8. USC
9. Oklahoma
10. Penn State
Others to note:
Georgia's design is just lke Gramblings, some would confuse them.
Florida says "Gators" on the side, Script. Only the illiterate would miss it.
Iowa was almost my #10, but Penn State beats them by a nose.
Notre Dame, Navy, BC and Army all have gold helmets.
Wisconsin's Wavy W needs to mentioned, because it is unique

I had listed those as ones not to consider, because every fan would be able to "recognize" those because of the initials (especially UCLA and LSU, which have their school completely "initialled out" on their helmet...how could someone not recognize UCLA and LSU when it says "UCLA" and "LSU" right there on their helmet?). Nebraska is also easy because besides Nevada it's the only "N" state not starting with "New" or "North" (and thus would have multiple initials).
