Will Antonio Pittman Rush for 5,000 or more Career Rushing Yards?
He currently has 1,712 career rushing yards. He would need 3,288 more yards to reach 5,000 which means an average of 1,644 yards a season and an average of 126.5 yards per game(assuming we go to a bowl game both years). Last year he rushed for 111 yards per game.
Things to consider are him leaving early for the NFL Draft, injuries, and splitting carries with other backs.
Will he do it? Give some reasons why or why not.

1. Will he get 5,000?
No. In fact, he'll be lucky to crack 4,500. This is not to slam Pitt. Getting 4,500 means he needs almost 2,800 yards (1,400 per year). If we didn't have Chris Wells I'd say Pitt could get 1,400 a year, but I think CW will take away just enough carries to make it too tough to get the 1,400. I think Pitt will crack 4,000 yards, though.
2. Will he leave early?
No. Check out the lack of respect by the media this pre-season. Even if he has another great season this year, most will continue to think he's small and not that fast. He wouldn't be projected high enough in the draft to come out early.

Yeah, but it's the media. If actual NFL scouts thought that then he wouldn't leave early.

I vote yes, because I'll be very surprised if he leaves early. As the #1 RB for OSU, I am sure he will crack 1500 in 2006 and 2007, in spite of CW. Regardless of the hype media gives him, I'll say he's a surefire contender for the 2007 Heisman.

I am going to have to agree with Mili here.....
The fact he is going to have to split carries with Chris Wells the next two years pretty much means he will not have the opportunities.

As much as I would like to see it, I just don't think it's happenin'. By all accounts Pit had a terrific season as a Big Ten back (1,330 yds is nothin' to sneeze at in conference) in '05. CW and MW aside, with the rest of our weapons on O, and opposing D's gunnin' for Pit this year, I just wonder what Pit could do differently this year from last that could increase his production to give him the neccesary 1,500 plus he needs to eclipse 5k for a career. A durable 1,200 to 1,300 yd season and 10 scores is all we need out of Pit and JT and company know it.

Nope, because of TS departure after this season, everyone will be keying the run on 07 with a new QB.
