Columbus- During his recruitment, Jake Stoneburner told everyone who would listen that he had no interest in playing tight end. He was going to college to be a receiver and catch passes.
And now he's a tight end. The Ohio State redshirt freshman figures he wouldn't be there if he wasn't going to catch passes.
"I didn't mind being moved because they told me they want me to be a game-changing tight end," Stoneburner said. "That's what teams are looking for, and if they said you're going to be a blocking tight end, that wouldn't be the most exciting thing. But I look forward to trying to be that game-changing player out there."

I could be wrong, but I don't think this is 100% true...

It's my understanding that Stoneburner wanted to be a "Playmaker" and the coaching staff sold him on the idea of being more of a Hybrid TE and he liked the ideas they shared with him and how he would become a "New Style" of TE that Ohio State really hasn't seen before.

Again, I could be wrong, but from what I've read in interviews with Stoneburner didn't suggest he wanted the WR label, but wanted to be used in the passing game...which I think is much different than the Coaching Staff selling him as a WR and then brining him in with a different mind set.

He won't be playing a traditional TE role. Think more Travis Beckum, less Rory Nicol.
