From the Ozone:
The-Ozone, Ohio State Football, Wrestling, Softball, Basketball, Hockey, Baseball and More Tight end Jake Stoneburner was in pads and shorts and the same goes for defensive end Melvin Fellows. |

If i remember correctly Stoneburner said he wanted to play WR and now they are switching him to TE . When he was recruited Stoneburner said the coaching staff said said he was WR all the way and that was a big selling point .

It's my understanding that Stoneburner wanted to be a "Playmaker" and the coaching staff sold him on the idea of being more of a Hybrid TE and he liked the ideas they shared with him and how he would become a "New Style" of TE that Ohio State really hasn't seen before. Again, I could be wrong, but from what I've read in interviews with Stoneburner didn't suggest he wanted the WR label, but wanted to be used in the passing game...which I think is much different than the Coaching Staff selling him as a WR and then brining him in with a different mind set. ::EDIT w/ Quote and Link:: I guess the words I used were not 100% - Playmaker vs. Game-Changing. Stoneburner also says in the article that he was in fact moved, but I took that as High School to College, not while at OSU based on the article starting off by talking about his recruitment and I believe he was listed as a TE last year...???, but again I could be WAY off base here... "I didn't mind being moved because they told me they want me to be a game-changing tight end," Stoneburner said. "That's what teams are looking for, and if they said you're going to be a blocking tight end, that wouldn't be the most exciting thing. But I look forward to trying to be that game-changing player out there." Link: http://www.cleveland.com/osu/plainde...750.xml&coll=2 Last edited by .:.Brutus.:.; 08-28-2009 at 08:18 PM. |

This seemed pretty interesting to me - Stoney at H-Back in a few sets? Hmmm...

He won't be playing a traditional TE role. Think more Travis Beckum, less Rory Nicol.
