Exactly! I served in the Air Force from 92-96' and was stationed at Yokota AB, Japan. I lived for Buckeye games just to see Columbus again. If blind devotion is arrogance, then hell yes we are!

My thoughts exactly. Damn I hate Miami.

While I was serving in Iraq right after the 02 NC season, my unit which is based out of Dayton shared an area of operation with a unit out of Florida. I bet you know the rest of the story.

Since when did being an arrogant fan become a bad thing? I always thought it was good for the rivalries.
If "The Game" is also considered arrogant then I don't know why anyone would watch sports period.
Obnoxious or rude fans are a whole different story.

do a quick search. there is a thread on this board that describes the purpose of the "THE" rather well. basically it boils down to proper grammar. something i know little of otherwise id go into more detail. the real question you should ask your friends when they complain is why, if their college is so great, they didn't receive a proper education. if they had, they wouldn't need to ask the question "why do they say it like that?".

Are tOSU fans arrogant? Sure, they think they have the best band (and name it accordingly), fans and team. They also take pride in calling it The Ohio State University.
Does this matter? No, not really.
Do many other schools have similar arrogance about their traditions/school? Yep.
As tim said above, there is a difference between arrogance and being obnoxious about it. The latter is what people should complain about. The former only bothers you if you have your panties in a wad.
I think it's dumb that The U calls itself that, especially b/c it isn't anywhere close to the other elite schools in tradition or academic prowess. But its not why I hate Miami fans. I hate them because they are whiny little turncoats who ditch their licensed gear and stop coming to home games once their team loses a game or two.
