with Texas, it has usually been punctuated as THE University of Texas, when talking about UT in the state of Texas, the other branches include their city with their letters, for example: UTSA, UTA(rlington), UTEP and so on and so forth.
For us, we usually associate it with being THE University of Texas when speaking to aggy and sometimes just shorten it to THE University.
Of course, aggy always refers to us as Texas University or TU, trying in vain to state that they are actually THE university of our state, although they are an agricultural college (which is one of the many reasons that we find the several beastiality comments involving sheep so damn entertaining.)
Then you have OU which would stand for Oklahoma University, although their website and name that they put out is the University of Oklahoma. Go figure. It just makes it harder for the sooners to defend their state if you make a comment that everything is backwards in Oklahoma.
