honestly my guess is the game will start in nickel.

What makes you say that? Do you think the Horns will come out passing? I'm not so sure about the nickel thought, because you have to counter size (which the Horns have plenty of along the line) with size. Also consider the fact that McCoy is starting his first significant game. Mack is going to play is safe for a bit, and allow McCoy to settle. Therefore, I'm thinking we'll come out in a base defense, so we can force them into passing situations by (hopefully) stopping their running attack.
As for the starters, I'd like to see: Freeman, Homan, Laurinaitis
I'd also like to see more of Grant, he seemed to be around the football a lot yesterday.

I would have to agree, but it still seemed like he was still thinking out there some, instead of just reacting.

In agreement with Freeman and Homan and, after rethinking what I posted in a previous thread, Lauranitis will probably get the edge over Grant (even though I think Grant had a slightly better game), simply because he has some big game experience. Both Grant and Lauranitis showed positives and negatives and both played on the same level... IMO, whoever plays better against Texas will start the rest of the year.

im not convinved they will come out gunning, but i really do expect texas to start from a 3 or 4 wide look. just a hunch. i really do think well see a lot of 3 wides, from what i saw saturday id guess mack and his staff will make players tackle in space early and often.

I went with Homan, Laurinitias and Freeman.
I think we also need to see Anderson Russell starting besides Mitchell at Safety.
One thing is for sure: Stopping the run and screen MUST be the focus of practice this week. A return to fundamentals...tackling, playing disciplined football, etc. If we stop the run, we win the game imo.

Kerr
How many tackles did he end up with?
I haven't watched the game again but I didn't see him much except every now and then on the ground as someone was running by him.
Maybe I'm being too harsh.

That might be your greatest post...I agree completely and sadly believe it applies to a few guys who played significant snaps yesterday
Hey grad you have alluded to this in several post... Other then Kerr who else needs to be replaced in your opinion...
From rewatching the game here would be my starting D Line-up
DE - V.Gholston
DT - Q.Pitcock
DT - D.Patterson
DE - L.Wilson
SAM - Freeman
WILL - Homan
MIKE - James L. (Weak link) someone needs to step up Edit with the above line-up)
CB - Jenkins
CB - Washington (hopefull Coleman can take this)
S - Russel
S - O'neal (can't be as bad as Mitchell)
MIKE, CB, FS are big concerns for me
