Most of you probably know by now that the Big 10 is the best conference in college football, but for the few that don't, I give you this stat.... Every team in the Big 10 won their game on opening weekend.

Minnesota @ Kent State 44-0
Idaho @ Michigan State 17-27
Vanderbilt @ Michigan (14) 7-27
Montana @ Iowa (16) 7-41
Indiana State @ Purdue 35-60

And on the other end of the spectrum, you have the Big 12. Holy [censored] what a mess.

Colorado lost to Montana State. It looks like they were dominated. by MONTANA STATE. hahahahahaha. Ummm, Dan Hawkins? wtf.

Kansas State was ougained and defeated 1AA Illinois State by 1 point. How embarrassing.

Iowa State, a supposed contender for the Big 12 north, went to triple overtime with Toledo. If you're supposed to be winning your division in a BCS conference, you shouldn't be going to overtime, at home, against a mid-major with a new QB.

OU beat perennial powerhouse UAB by a whopping 7 points. They were losing in the 3rd quarter.

Texas A&M struggled against the Citadel, even if the score was 35-3. They have issues.

Nebraska, Texas, and Tech all looked good, but they do not make up for the suckitude of the above teams.

WTF, I know they lost their QB, but I thought they were supposed to be good this year? I hope they have a nice 7-5 year.

I don't think I have to apologize for my love of the Big 10 conference, but the SEC has to be the toughest... Alabama, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee are all programs that could contend for the NC any season. The Big 10 has only three such programs: OSU, Michigan and Penn State. It's not without cause that Miami, Florida State and Va Tech went with the Big East and ACC and not with the SEC. I'm kicking my self in the shorts for not calling Tennessee's "upset" of Cal. I called it in an e-mail but didn't "officially" call it on the upsets thread.

not so sure about cal yet, their defense looked awful in the tennessee game. if cupito has a good game, minnesota might pull of an upset...

This topic has been beaten to death in these boards, but the SEC is just top-heavy. If you square each one of them against an equivalent Big10 team, we would win. South Carolina, Ark, Miss, Miss St, VB and KY are way too weak for the bottom tier Bit10 teams. Besides, I'll fancy Iowa, Purdue and Wisconsin's (mid-tier Big10 teams) chances over Georgia, LSU and Auburn.

Alabama hasn't been a contender in awhile. Georgia hasn't even beaten Florida three times in 15 years. SEC teams get more credit on name recognition alone, but Iowa would give any of those teams a run for their money.
