I would love to see a list of the top two or three High school Qb's from the years 1996 to 2000.
I just wonder how many of these top Qb's ever really turn out to be "top" Qb's. I know there's been quite a few that haven't panned out. I never get too excited about Qb's. If we manage to get one that is ranked somewhere in the top 20 nationally every couple of years, we'll be fine. Offensively, Football is still won in the trenches and with a good running game. Give me three of the top 15 Offensive lineman and a top 10 Rb and I'm more than happy. |

Good one Brutus1
How 'bout Chris Simms? |

I'd think the opportunity for a QB to have such an opportunity to give input and make play calls would be something attractive to high school QBs and would give what seems to be a very well schooled QB like Sanchez a lot of excitement.

ZekeD: Which helps explain the lavish use of timeouts.
I don't think they used timeouts any more frequently than the opposing teams have during Tressel's tenure here. |

Buckeyejeff - I've been thinking the same thing. Even though we're not in on any 5 star WRs right now (well Rouse and Williams as longshots), I think getting Sanchez might help out with that.

Timeouts should be saved for critical situations not squandered when you can't get the play in on time.
I've seen every game over the last two seasons, and JT and staff really haven't "squandered" any more TOs than have the opposing teams. |

I don't think that was Mili's point. I think the use of timouts is a silly argument. There are many things that can be debated concerning JT's offensive stratagy, but c'mon, timeouts? Some of them, probably a lot of them cannot even be attributed to the staff, but a QB that gets to the line and doesn't like what he sees. Ck used plenty of TO's at the line the last two years. |

Yeah, well maybe we should go ahead and fire Tressel since a timeout should never be used, seeing as a real coach would never allow his team to get into "critical situations" in the first place.

How about the opening offensive drive in the National Championship game against Miami for an example of a timeout snafu. I know, I know, nerves played a factor in that. Whatever, it was "squandered," and besides that, we're Ohio State...which leads me to point out just how ridiculous a statement this is:
"I've seen every game over the last two seasons, and JT and staff really haven't "squandered" any more TOs than have the opposing teams." Ohio State is not, and should never be compared to the opposing teams we play as if they are on equal footing. They are not--Ohio State is superior. If you're going to make that comparison, make it for opposing teams of comparable worth, like Miami or that other damn school you know where. I really don't think Northwestern and Cincinnati are in the Sanchez sweepstakes, which is the topic all this nonsense has indirectly come from. I put my full support behind Coach Tressel as both a football coach and mentor for students. He has achieved the ultimate accomplishment on the football field. That does not mean he's perfect, just as his less-than-perfect offense does not mean he should be fired. Settle down. |
