Indians finish season undefeated!
By Jerri Lynn Merritt
The Indians celebrate after winning the game.Submitted photo/Adam Herrera
Immokalee High School senior quarterback Ramces Rouzard was ecstatic after the homecoming game Friday night. ?We?re 10-0, baby,? he shouted, ?No one can take that away from us! The Indians shut out a formidable Plantation American Heritage team 43-0. Ramces threw for 1,232 yards in his first year as Senior Quarterback. ?This year meant a lot to me because it is my first year at quarterback and Coach Weber chose me to be a leader and that was real hard that first week. We made a commitment and we set a goal and we accomplished it. Life isn?t fair but we proved that no matter what happens, tradition and pride overcomes all of that.?

That?s right the Indians are a perfect 10! They are the best team that Immokalee High has ever had, breaking the school?s record for shutouts, points scored and teams held scoreless with the awesome Immokalee defense only allowing 36 points all season. Immokalee finished its 2006 season Friday night, outscoring their opponents 399 to 36 .The Indians were up to a 37-0 half-time lead over American Heritage before the homecoming crowning of wide receiver Aaron Henry.

Twenty-one points were scored in the first quarter alone. Brian Rolle was the first to put the Indians on the scoreboard with a 37-yard touchdown run on Immokalee?s first play from scrimmage. Markease Williams?s kick went sailing through the uprights at Gary Bates Stadium. Carl Elie was next on the board with a 27-yard run and again Williams?s kick was good.

Carl Elie scored once more on a 1-yard run and Williams kicked it through again. They scored 16 more points in the second quarter first with Brandon Rolle on a 1-yard run. Then, again Carl Elie and another 1-yard run and a Williams kick. Then Markease Williams kicked a 35 -yard field goal to bring the score to 37-0 at the half. Carl Elie finished with 71 yards and three touchdowns.

Brian Rolle scored the final touchdown for the Indians with a beautifully executed 30-yard run, which brought the final score to 43-0. After the game Brian said, ?It was wild! I?m a senior and this is my last game. It?s hard to take it all in. This is for Gilbert Zarate and I pray every night and this is for him. He would have enjoyed this so much. As for me and my future wherever I go will be because of these guys.? Brain had 140 yards on 10 carries for two touchdowns this game.

As the Immokalee fans went crazy, the players doused their coaches with Gatorade, the team shook hands with their opponents before Captain Brian Rolle took center field and with a beaming smile on his face started the chant ?10 and 0, 10 and 0.? The entire Indian team joined in, ?10 and 0, 10 and 0.? They bounced up and down shouting holding their helmets high and declaring themselves number one for all to see and revel in their victory.

#53 Fabio Ramirez reflected on this season, ?It meant a lot to all of us like winning the Super Bowl and World Series. Everything might not be big in life but you make them as big as you want them to be.?

As is customary at the end of all Immokalee Indians games, an emotion filled Coach John Weber gathered his team around him and spoke from the heart. ?Every goal we set for ourselves, we met,? he said. ?We went 10-0 with six shutouts. We set the school record for shutouts. We set the school record for fewest points allowed. Nobody on God?s green earth could?ve done what you?ve done under the circumstances. Nobody. We are so proud of what you have accomplished this season. We love all of you guys.?

The year?s team is only the second team in Immokalee High School?s 55-year history to have a perfect regular season. ?I rank this year?s team right up there with the best and I would play anybody in our class, any place! This was their State Championship and they did what they had to do. I want to tell the Immokalee community how much their support has meant to our team. We appreciate all of their backing they have given us this year and they have a group of young men whom they can be very proud of,? said Coach Weber.

Buckeyes roll out red carpet for Rolle

By Jason A. Dixon (Contact)
Wednesday, November 15, 2006
Immokalee?s Brian Rolle had trouble believing the intensity of the Ohio State-Michigan football rivalry.

But the 5-foot-11, 220-pound Rolle, who is being recruited by the Buckeyes as a linebacker, will fly to Columbus for an official visit this weekend to get a first-hand experience.
?When I first heard it was that game I?m going to, I didn?t know it was as serious as it was,? he said during a telephone interview on Tuesday. ?I told my coach ?You know I?m going up to the Ohio State-Michigan game?? and he was like ?What??
?I thought it was something wrong with him. He was like ?That?s one of the best games of this decade.???
And caught up in all the anticipated excitement is where Rolle will find himself, thinking about how badly he wants to be out on the field.
It will be the third official visit for Rolle, who has already gone to the University of Iowa and the University of Wisconsin.
He also made an unofficial visit to the University of Florida, a place where Rolle received something that will ultimately lead to his final decision.
?Florida is the only place where I felt really at home, even though it?s in Florida,? he said. ?When I first met the guys, it felt like I knew these guys my whole life. Depending on how this visit goes, I?ll be able to say ?I want to go to school there,? but I?m still not going to make my decision until a couple of weeks from now.?
Rolle added that if he finds Ohio State to be the right fit for him, he will commit early.
On Dec. 1, Rolle said he will likely make an official visit to LSU and then choose between West Virginia, Mississippi and Florida for his final visit.
Rolle said he?s leaning toward taking an official visit to Florida so he can get a better feel for what type of program they have.
Right now, though, he?s chomping at the bit for Saturday.
?It?s going to be Ohio State and Michigan,? Rolle said. ?The No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country and I look forward to seeing those guys play their hearts out.?
This past season, Rolle led the Indians to a 10-0 record while playing running back and linebacker.
He rushed for 902 yards and 17 touchdowns and led the team with 125 tackles. Rolle has also drawn some interest from schools to play running back, LSU being one, but he said his preference is to stay at linebacker.
Immokalee was banned from the playoffs by the Florida High School Athletic Association during the summer for the use of on over-aged kicker in a handful of games during the 2005 season.
For the last three years, Rolle has played on varsity, helping the Indians win the school?s first ever state championship in 2004. Immokalee football coach John Weber said Rolle is one of the most highly recruited players he?s had in 30 years of coaching high school football.
?Not a lot of kids get a chance to go to Wisconsin, Ohio State and Florida,? Weber said, ?so that tells you what kind of player he is. He handles it just like he did on the field, with class. Everywhere he goes, they like the way he handles it.?
