Well, let us take those ad seriam:
The voters are not required to explain their ballots. They are now required to make them public - so they can hear the displeasure of different readers or fans.
Replacement of an AP balloter seems like the best solution, though, honestly, would you cut say, Herbie in favor of Archuleta. Herbie because he lists presently hapless Miami at #24, Archuleta as the last recalcitrant hold-out placing Auburn #1? Where would one draw a line? And, would you only do that at the end of a season? How far out of whack would the poll need top be?
Anyway, it seems to me that you are not asking for a pollster to validate their poll, but rather to defend the same. Given that it is a matter of opinion, true - it is meant to be informed opinion - the pollster could simply say "IMHO Georgia Tech is not as good of a team as those Hokies they just beat down. Watch the rest of the season, you'll see that I am right."

You would have to be a certified moron (or, I guess, live in California), to vote anyone but the Bucks No. 1 right now. Come On!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I realize that I am biased toward the Buckeyes, but in all seriousness, I would be curious to hear what rationale (poor choice of words) Greg Archuleta uses in casting his ballot for Auburn as number 1.

Well I took the step that seemed most obvious and posted this question to Greg at his Albuquerque office.
==================================
Hello Greg:
I saw recently the nifty utility on the AP.org site which allows visitors to view the votes cast by inidvidual members of the media.
This intrigued me as I saw that there was only one voter remaining who had not cast their #1 vote for the Ohio State Buckeyes. You.
Is there some specific proficiency that Auburn shows as a team, which Ohio State lacks; or, conversely a flaw in the Buckeyes as a team that Auburn does not fall victim toward that shaped your vote? Could be as simple as Greg Archuleta being a lifelong fan of the War Eagle?
Simply interested, though in the interest of full disclosure I am a long time fan of the Buckeyes.
Thanks, and looking forward to your reply:
=======================================
At least he cannot complain about foul language and inane fan behavior from my polite inquiry.
I doubt this will elicit a response that satisfies anyone. But, it is the only way to get an answer to your question.

I'd be more interested in what those imbeciles out in California would have to say who voted WVU over us. At least Auburn beat a good team in LSU. Can someone explain to me what in the world WVU has on its resume besides beating teams at the bottom of the I-A barrel?
