I hope they don't expect every game to be close to that. Ohio Stadium will always have well over 100,000 fans in the stands. Iowa will be lucky to match what they had last Saturday once ever decade or so...

Agreed...that game atmosphere was more a tribute to Ohio State than a sample of what one could expect to see at an Iowa game. Just like the games at Texas, Penn State (last year) and frankly anywhere the Bucks play on the road. |

Out of curiosity how games have you either of you seen at Kinnick?
Yes the "sea of gold" is certainly not every game (although they've "black out"s in the past as well) & their fans were more jacked than normal. However the Hawkeyes sell out their 70K stadium regularly, and having the stands that close to the field does lend an atmosphere that is unique in the Big10.
Last week may have been special but their home games are normally pretty rockin' regardless.
Likewise last year's Texas game & this year's Penn State matchup ("Sea of Scarlet" anyone?) were a couple of notches above the norm as well....merely because of who the opponent was.

Officially the attendance was 70,585. Which is exactly the same as the official attendance for the Iowa State & Montanna games...and every other home game over the past three years that have all been sellouts.

Of course, because the 2006 Ohio State Buckeyes are the greatest sports team to ever take to a sports field in the history of the state of Iowa. Right behind 2006 OSU, I'd probably have to put the 1919 Chicago White Sox as the second greatest team to ever play a sport on a field in Iowa.

the atmosphere was excellent at Kinnick last weekend. We did exactly what we needed to go. Force a 3 and out and the put some points on the board. That set the tone for the whole game.
Let me just say I am happy that Ted recovered that fumble. It definitley could have changed the flow of the game.
