Whew. I just read all 28 pages of this thread. So, I'm all caught up.
I'd just like to put in my 2 cents on this subject. I live in Alexandria, VA, and we currently have Comcast. We have a bundled package for about $110/month for cable (with Showtime), internet, and phone. I looked into Direct TV when we moved in here in June to see if we could save some money but it seemed like it would end up being more. After all this crap, I am thinking about switching, but I'm not sure if I can convince my roommates. Does anyone know if I can get Direct TV in just one room on one TV? And, if I can have it while still having cable on the rest of the TVs?
And, at this point, what are the chances Comcast is going to make a deal with BTN?
Lastly, I'd just like to say, if people in Columbus (especially) can't see all the games, it's truly a disgrace. Part of my love for OSU sports draws from the time I've spent with my parents and family watching the games together. There's no way my parents (who are quite a bit older) would ever go to a bar to watch the game or subscribe to Direct TV (they find Tivo confusing enough). But, it's a tradition for them to sit in the living room every Saturday and watch the game together. When I'm not there, sometimes I'll call them at the half or we'll definitely talk about it on Sunday. Not to sound like a sap, but this sport really connects us since I've been living some 400 miles away.
I mean, I can always go to a bar, but I know there are a lot of people in Columbus that might not do that.

Disgrace might be a stretch. This is only a game...not life & death. But it's a shame..that's fer shur. But this seems to be where televised sports are headed. NFL Network, BTN, SECTV is sure to follow. Seems like there'll be almost as many sports channels as there are home shopping channels (not a bad thing, 'cept ya gotta pay for it!) As I noted earlier in the thread, I'm the one person who has opted not to pay for it. I've moved from DirecTV to Comcast for a host of reasons. I'm just not worried about those few games I won't see in my home and home theater room. And if I somehow miss a game entirely because I didn't go to a friend's house or to a restaraunt or bar, then I'll find a way to live...I'm sure of it.

My bad. I guess the BTN is a disgrace then. What a shame!

To sum it up will quick:
DirecTV will be showing the BTN.
DirecTV will have extra dedicated channels (sort of like a free 'B10' Gameplan for "choice" or better viewers.)
BTN is scheduled to also have HD channels on DirecTV by Sept 1.
(as of Aug 15) No Cable company is going to be able to show tOSU games unless it is a National ESPN game on the ESPN channel ( help me out here guys... vs MSU, Minny and Michigan the only games? )

We are truly blessed that we have such relatively small things to worry about. 9/11 was almost 6 years ago. It's still frustrating, though.

I think 50% is a flunking grade.
Anyhow, the first 2 are correct. The last 2 are not.
